Film, Television and Video Productions Featuring Brass Bands
Film, Television and Video productions featuring brass bands Gavin Holman, October 2019 Over the years the brass bands in the UK, and elsewhere, have appeared numerous times on screen, whether in feature films or on television programmes. In most cases they are small appearances fulfilling the role of a “local” band in the background or supporting a musical event in the plot of the drama. At other times band have a more central role in the production, featuring in a documentary or being a major part of the activity (e.g. Brassed Off, or the few situation comedies with bands as their main topic). Bands have been used to provide music in various long-running television programmes, an example is the 40 or more appearances of Chalk Farm Salvation Army Band on the Christmas Blue Peter shows on BBC1. Bands have taken part in game shows, provided the backdrop for and focus of various commercial advertisements, played bands of the past in historical dramas, and more. This listing of 450 entries is a second attempt to document these appearances on the large and small screen – an original list had been part of the original Brass Band Bibliography in the IBEW, but was dropped in the early 2000s. Some overseas bands are included. Where the details of the broadcast can be determined (or remembered) these have been listed, but in some cases all that is known is that a particular band appeared on a certain show at some point in time - a little vague to say the least, but I hope that we can add detail in future as more information comes to light. -

Our Heory Pressbook
Our Teory Pressbook BIO$$ OUR THEORY is a French rock/post-hardcore band that was born in 2011 from the minds of Bastien Berhault (singer) and Mehdi Major (guitar/vocals). They were joined later by Damien Bauthamy (guitar, ex-Borderline), Guillaume Cellarius (Drums) and Yoann Andrieux (bass). Our Theory has for mission to give a kick to the french music scene with a mix of tension and restlessness that is characteristic of post hardcore, along with its intensive melodies. With a pure, melodic and deep voice from their singer, strong rhythms and intensive riffs, they create an intensive tension on each of their tracks. Shortly after getting together, they were getting noticed in the scene and their success keeps growing day after day! With their videos for The Devil and The Storm, they smash statistics and prove that they have their place among the international music scene. Stage wise, the band already had the chance to play in France and Europe and share the stage with bands such as Young Guns, Memphis May Fire, Escape The Fate, There For Tomorrow, Eyes Set To Kill, Of Mice & Men, Devil Sold His Soul and Closure in Moscow. Their debut album "Collapse" is out since September the 30th and features Bert from Chunk No Captain Chunk and Edward Gibbs ex singer in Devil Sold His Soul. Considering what has already been achieved so far & so fast, Our Theory is a band to follow very closely! 03/12/2014 – Dunkerque, 4Ecluse (with Hopes Die Last) 02/12/2014 – Lyon, La Marquise (with Hopes Die Last) 13/11/2014 – Paris, Ouï Love Backstage at O’Sullivan -

The Future of Children’s TV 1. Introduction Page 2 2. What’s the purpose of Children’s TV? Page 2 3. BBC Children’s Television Failings Page 2 4. Recommendations Page 4 5. Conclusion Page 4 Appendix A Page 5 Appendix B Page 7 Appendix C Page 8 Appendix D Page 10 1 1. Introduction In response to the OFCOM consultation of 3rd October 2007 Children's TV is in crisis. But why does anyone care? Why would it matter if children's television disappeared completely? Is this just about losing jobs in an industry, or is it an issue of providing an important and worthwhile service to young people and therefore to society as a whole? 2. What’s the purpose of Children’s TV? There is a children's TV crisis, and although the reason is due in part to advertising restrictions that doesn't in any way excuse the BBC's shoddy treatment of children detailed in this submission to OFCOM. Jocelyn Hay, from the Voice of the Listener and Viewer, told BBC News 24 on 15 May 2007 that children need programmes made in this country, and pointed out that they "want to be entertained but they also have a right to information, to educational programmes, live programmes, programmes that reflect their own rich heritage of speech, language, culture and their own environment and locations which help them to grow up to be informed citizens of this country, not of some mid-Atlantic fantasy world." Mrs Hay's statement goes to the heart of why it is so important that this country has our own good quality children's programmes. -
