Wednesday, May 2, 2018 Donnie Wagner Associate Director of Championships 317/917-6222 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Wednesday, May 2, 2018 Donnie Wagner Associate Director of Championships 317/917-6222 TEAMS AND INDIVIDUALS SELECTED FOR 2018 NCAA DIVISION I MEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Committee has selected the teams and individuals to participate in the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships. Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 14-16. Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals. Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 25-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Oklahoma State University is the host institution for the 2018 championships. Listed below are the teams and individuals selected to participate in the championships. Teams winning automatic qualification are designated by their conferences in parentheses. Oklahoma won the team title, defeating reigning national champion Oregon, 3-1-1 in the final round of match play competition. Ole Miss’ Braden Thornberry claimed the individual title with a four-day total of 277, which was 11-under par. -30- DW:jr .

    Förberedelser och skötsel av mästerskapsbana ett arbete om Solheim Cup 2007 på Halmstad Golfklubb Andreas Jönsson (760426-4676) 0708584440 – [email protected] Halmstad, 2008-07-29 HGU 2006 Handledare: Kim Sintorn Sammanfattning För att preparera en bana både före och under en tävling behöver man mycket resurser i form av personal, maskiner och transportfordon. Under Solheim Cup på Halmstad Golfklubb visade det sig krävas mer än en fördubbling av personalstyrkan. Med denna ökning följde självklart ett behov av i stort sett en lika stor ökning av antalet maskiner och transportfordon. Exempelvis kör en foregreenklippare både norra och södra banan under högsäsong. Under Solheim Cup nyttjades två stycken enbart på tävlingsbanan (norra). Eftersom antalet greenkeepers och maskiner helt plötsligt blir mycket stort är det viktigt att man utarbetar en detaljerad plan över vem som ska göra vad och med vilken maskin, eller åtminstone hur många personer som krävs för varje arbetsuppgift. Detta bör man enligt mig börja med så tidigt som möjligt. Det är också viktigt att man, om möjligt, ännu tidigare arbetar fram en plan över vad som skall göras på banan inför tävlingen, alltså inte bara skötseln under tävlingsveckan. Med ett normalt skötselprogram säsongerna innan en tävling kommer man troligtvis inte behöva göra några radikala förändringar i detta program. Det som krävdes hos oss var dock en ökning i frekvens på valda moment ur programmet. Dessa var i princip gödsling, luftning, vertikalskärning samt dressning. Utöver detta krävdes det också några inte varje år förekommande arbeten. För att lokalisera dessa hade vi på Halmstad Golfklubb stor hjälp av LET:s Tour Agronomist Julian Mooney och tre bankonsulenter från SGF, nämligen Mikael Frisk, Göran Hansson samt Kim Sintorn.

    Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois ABOUT THE FOUNDATION FOUNDATION INFORMATION The Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois is dedicated to bringing the sport of golf into the lives of children and providing them with opportunities for personal growth and career enhancement. Kids Golf Foundation The Kids Golf Foundation is a statewide junior golf association that offers and supports several golf programs and events designed to introduce children between the ages of 5 and 17 to the sport of golf, its fundamentals, rules, history, etiquette, life lessons, and more. The Foundation is one of the largest junior golf organizations in the state. Purpose The Foundation serves as the customer service center for individuals and organizations within the state of Illinois wishing to adopt programs and participate in events. We service these sites in a variety of ways including individual meetings, site visits, program consultation, equipment usage, and funding. In addition to teaching kids the fundamentals of golf, our programs and events teach participants life skills and leadership through the sport of golf. Grants & Funding The Foundation offers a Program Grant for organizations who wish to adopt our programs, which is designed to support material and equipment fees that are associated with the various program elements or levels. Grant applications and supporting documentation are reviewed by a committee throughout the year. A minimum of four weeks is needed for the committee to receive, review, and make a final decision on an application. Impact The success of the Foundation is evident in the number of diverse organizations that have participated in our programs and events.

    The 2009 Solheim Cup at Rich Harvest Farms The Solheim Cup The Solheim Cup is a biennial, trans-Atlantic team match-play competition featuring the best U.S.- born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and the best European members from the Ladies European Tour (LET). The U.S. Team leads the competition, 7-3, and has never lost The Solheim Cup on home soil. In 2009, the Americans will be looking to keep their untarnished home record intact at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove. U.S. Solheim Cup team captain Beth Daniel, a member at Rich Harvest Farms, will lead a cast of 12 Americans against Allison Nicholas’ European team from Aug. 17-23, 2009. Daniel, a player on eight U.S. Solheim Cup Teams, was assistant captain for the U.S. Team at the 2007 Solheim Cup in Hamstad, Sweden. “I am very excited that the Solheim Cup is being played at Rich Harvest Farms,” said Daniel. “The layout of the course adds to the risk and reward of match play competition.” The rich history of The Solheim Cup dates back to 1990 when the first international competition was held in Orlando. Since then, the event has grown not only in patriotism, but also in fan involvement. The 2005 Solheim Cup at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind., sold out eight months in advance via a random drawing. A record 103,000 attended the last staging of The Solheim Cup on American soil, and estimates for the 2009 crowd are pushing 150,000.
