WEST VALLEY COLLEGE CREATING AN ANTI-RACIST CAMPUS SCHEDULE OF CLASSES 4–WEEK WINTER SESSION STARTS JANUARY 4 WINTER & SPRING 2021 SPRING SEMESTER STARTS FEBRUARY 1 Welcome, students, to West Valley College. We want you to know how much we appreciate you for PRESIDENT’S continuing or starting your college studies here at West Valley. We know these are trying times and we are proud of you as you persevere along the path in higher education. We are all here for you, MESSAGE albeit virtually, and are dedicated to helping you succeed and reach your academic goals. We continue to put the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staf as a main priority. Accordingly, most winter/spring classes will be taught online per guidelines from local, state, and federal health agencies. Our students will continue to have access to live online support services from ofces like Admissions, Counseling, Financial Aid, Health Services, and more through the Cranium Cafe app. Our Ofce of Student Needs will continue to provide bags of groceries and box lunches and in some cases, Safeway gif cards to students in need. We also ofer laptop checkout and free wireless access, so no student is lef behind in this online learning environment. But the pandemic isn’t the only crisis we are all facing. Systemic racism continues to pervade our communities globally. At West Valley we are committed to addressing racially-biased structures on our campus, addressing anti-Black racism, becoming culturally profcient in all cultures our students represent, and producing equitable and successful outcomes for all students of color. Te college is committing to an Anti-Racism and Inclusion Action Plan that outlines in detail the pathway to the college goal of creating a truly anti-racist environment in which all students feel a sense BOARD OF TRUSTEES of belonging. Our task is to help all students achieve their academic goals of degree and certifcate Susan Fish, President completion and university transfer or job skills training at equal levels across demographic groups.
