Won Special Competition for survey experiment to measure social desirability in public opinion about social groups. Survey questions were included in a representative national public opinion survey conducted by NSF-funded Time-Sharing Experiments for the Social Sciences (TESS), 2004-05.

Attended the 2009 American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) Annual Meeting in Seattle to develop techniques in teaching civic engagement and active learning. This enabled me to incorporate structured concept analysis in all my upper division courses. In addition, I have improved and expanded the hands-on research projects in these courses. These projects include participant-observation research, a content analysis of news media, self-tests and follow-up analysis of Implicit Association Tests and comprehensive research design incorporating theory, concept and hypothesis development, measurement strategy, case selection, and a framework for analyzing results.
