Established October 1895 Spencer breaks silence on resignation PAGE 3 Friday July 10, 2020 $2 VAT Inclusive ‘REMAINMINISTER of Home Affairs, VIGILANT’ Edmund Hinkson, has urged Barbadians to be vigilant as the peak of the hurricane season has yet to arrive. Speaking to the media recently at a press briefing regarding the new traffic lights at the Westmoreland junction, Minister Hinkson also used the time to encourage Barbadians to be prepared for the hurricane season. “The reality is that we are very far from the height of the season and that Barbadians and residents must remain vigilant as to what can happen and nothing beats preparation,” stated Hinkson. The minister highlighted that for the first time, Barbados would be preparing for the season in the midst of a global pandemic. He explained that the current administration, through the National Advisory Committee, has been making preparations for the hurricane season and the committee has met five times over the last six weeks. “We would have met with social welfare, whose responsibility it is to ensure that people are protected socially, the most vulnerable. We have been involved with the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure that there will be food supplies to each area of Barbados in the event that any district in Barbados is cut off and that there would be sufficient food channelled to that area,” explained the minister. Hinkson also mentioned meetings with the Housing Ministry where stronger arrangements were made for the supply of building material, if there is a need for swift repairs for the houses of any residents impacted.

[STREAMS-FREE]UFC 259 Live Stream: Adesanya vs Blachowicz PPV UFC 259 live stream: Light Heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz prepares for his third title defence - against Israel Adesanya in Yas Island, ... The UFC 259 live stream is almost here, and we've got two title matches at the top of the card. Up first you have Amanda Nunes vs Megan Anderson for the featherweight title, and your main event finds UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya moving up the weight rankings to challenge for Jan Blachowicz's light heavyweight championship. Going into that match, Adesanya is the lighter of the two, hitting 200.5 pounds at weigh-ins on Friday morning. He was handed a box of pizza by his cornerman thereafter, so he's intent on putting on some more pounds. And well he should, nobody's ever won that title at this weight before. Blachowicz was 205 pounds (the limit) at weigh-ins, but says he'll be at 220 pounds by fight time. Nunes, both the UFC women's featherweight and bantamweight champ, is the heavy favorite against Megan Anderson. Anderson is only 0.5 pounds lighter, but the odds are still stacked against her according to most — as Nunes is the best to ever do it in women's MMA. The biggest UFC show of the year so far is almost here, as Israel Adesanya attempts to make history by adding the UFC light-heavyweight title to his middleweight championship. Standing in his way is Jan Blachowicz, who is on a four-fight win streak with three of those coming inside the distance courtesy of his formidable punch power.

  • Blachowicz, Nunes Keep Belts at UFC 259 Sterling Wins on DQ
ARAB TIMES, MONDAY, MARCH 8, 2021 SPORTS 14 Blachowicz, Nunes keep belts at UFC 259 Sterling wins on DQ LAS VEGAS, March 7, (AP): Israel Adesanya learned that holding two UFC title belts simultane- ously is not nearly as easy as Amanda Nunes makes it look. And Petr Yan learned that even a momentary lapse in discipline can dearly cost a champion. Jan Blachowicz defended his UFC light heavyweight title with a unani- mous decision over the previously unbeaten Adesanya at UFC 259, thwarting the reigning middleweight champ’s bid to claim a second belt. Two-division champion Nunes defended her featherweight belt with ease, beating Megan Anderson by sub- mission 2:03 into the first round at the Apex gym on the UFC’s corporate campus. Aljamain Sterling also won the UFC’s bantamweight title when Yan was disqualified for an illegal knee strike in the fourth round. The 38-year-old Blachowicz (28-8) made his first title defense in impres- sive style by outworking Adesanya (20-1), the fearsome 185-pound cham- pion moving up for a shot at history. The Polish champion used his size advantage and veteran savvy, taking control of their fight with two huge takedowns and subsequent ground control in the fourth and fifth rounds. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: John Stouffer Monday, June 5, 2017 [email protected] FORMER UFC BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPION MIESHA TATE AND RETIRED CONTENDER KENNY FLORIAN SERVE AS ANALYSTS FOR FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT: LEWIS VS. HUNT John Gooden and Brian Stann Call Fights from New Zealand LOS ANGELES – Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate (@MieshaTate) and retired contender Kenny Florian (@KennyFlorian) serve as analysts on the FOX Sports desk with host Karyn Bryant (@KarynBryant) for FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT: LEWIS VS. HUNT on Saturday, June 10. Retired contender Brian Stann (@BrianStann) joins blow-by-blow announcer John Gooden (@JohnGoodenUK) to call the fights live from New Zealand, while reporter Heidi Androl (@HeidiAndrol) interviews fighters on-site. UFC bantamweight Erik “Goyito” Perez (@Goyito_Perez) and Victor Davila (@mastervic10) call the Spanish language telecast on FOX Deportes. After more than 12 years as a professional mixed martial artist, No. 7-ranked heavyweight Mark Hunt (12-11-1, 1NC) has never fought in his native New Zealand. On June 10, “The Super Samoan” returns home to face No. 6 Derrick Lewis (18-4, 1NC) in the five-round headliner in Auckland. On what is sure to be an emotional night, Hunt looks to stop the rise of Lewis, who has won six in a row in the Octagon, five by knockout. FOX UFC analyst Michael Bisping says fans shouldn’t miss the Lewis vs. Hunt headliner: “Somebody is going to get knocked out in this one. If you’re a fan of seeing big, gigantic heavyweights, throwing hell for leather in each and every single shot, then tune into this fight.
