The nominees were chosen by a blue-ribbon panel of judges. Once again, this year’s nominees reflect the wide range of material being published in comics and graphic novel form today, with over 120 titles from some 50 publishers and by creators from all over the world. Topping the nominations is Sonny Liew’s The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye (Pantheon), originally published in Singapore. Revista de Filologia Catalana un dossier dedicat a estudiar les relacions entre còmic i literatura des de diversos punts de vista (adaptacions de textos en prosa a vinyetes, manlleus tècnics, metodològics i/o conceptuals en un sentit o en l’altre, visions comercials convergents, etc.), sempre amb la perspectiva del còmic com a mitjà artístic autònom i mereixedor d’aproximacions analítiques pregones. Cert és que ningú m’ha nomenat defensor oficiós de la dignitat del còmic com a àmbit en què, potencial- ment, es poden crear artefactes culturals de qualitat com ocorre en altres àmbits prestigiats per la tradició acadèmica, però, tenint en compte la migradesa d’oportunitats concedides fins ara al còmic en el context universitari, entenc que és comprensible i convenient que, com a coordi- nador del dossier que trobareu tot seguit, aprofite l’avinentesa per a redactar unes escasses planes a palesar que la situació segons la qual el còmic és arrenglerat en les faenes de recerca ha de canviar i que, de fet, ja està canviant (em disculpareu que, en aquestes pròximes pàgines, hi prenga una perspectiva eminentment depenent del còmic més que no de la literatura, però espere que convindreu que l’àmbit literari ha estat força més atés i que és l’altre mitjà el que necessita abans de ser airejat i comen- tat).

Durante questi anni, sono due le persone che non hanno mai smesso di incoraggiarmi: mia madre e mio padre. Fin dal primo anno, mi hanno aiutato nei problemi che incontravo lungo la strada (nel vero senso della parola, anche quando mi perdevo per Venezia, lasciandomi indizi per strada in modo che potessi seguire le tracce per arrivare in sede universitaria) e sostenendomi, anche se non conoscevano questo mio mondo, osservando a debita distanza la mia crescita sia personale che universitaria. Non mi hanno fatto mai mancare niente, dandomi tutti gli strumenti per avanzare nel mio percorso e sono stati i miei primi sostenitori. È grazie a loro se sono arrivata dove sono adesso, e non potrò che essergli riconoscenti a vita. Un’altra figura che è stata partecipe del mio percorso, è Federico, arrivato a metà strada, ma che ha recuperato pienamente, risultando, tra tutti, il mio punto di riferimento anche nelle decisioni più difficili da prendere.

    36 SALÓ INTERNACIONAL DEL CÒMIC DE BARCELONA El 36 Saló Internacional del Còmic de Barcelona se celebra aquest any del 12 al 15 d'abril de 2018 als palaus 2, 4, 5 i Plaça Univers de Fira Barcelona Montjuïc, on ocuparà aproximadament uns 50.000 metres quadrats i comptarà amb 180 expositors. El certamen organitzat per FICOMIC oferirà nombroses activitats culturals, així com exposicions, conferències, signatures d'autors, tallers, a més de la participació de destacats autors de còmic, tant nacionals com internacionals. El Saló del Còmic de Barcelona vol retre un homenatge al còmic i als seus autors. Especialment, al treball realitzat en l'últim quart del segle XX pels creadors de tot el món, però amb especial atenció als autors nacionals. El Saló tindrà el còmic i els seus autors com a veritable eix central del certamen. Nous espais, noves activitats i molt més còmic que mai.     The Eighth International Graphic Novel, Comics Conference and Bandes Dessinées Society Conference Borders- Identity, Difference and Representation Monday 26th to Friday 30th June 2017 University of Dundee & University of Glasgow Welcome to Scotland! We have chosen the theme of borders this year. The border distinguishes one space or concept from another whether geopolitical, physical, psychological, ideological or temporal. As such it is a potent phenomenon in contemporary culture where invasion, contestation and negotiation of borders signal inclusion/exclusion or conflict. Geopolitical borders might deal with the imaginary lines on the map that distinguish one territory from another; immigration; citizenship; national and regional borders; sites of ownership; the topography of a space that can inhibit or prohibit; and the marks on the landscape made to claim one territory from another. Temporal borders include the construction of history through historical categories such as the Golden Age or the Silver Age, or the annotation of time in the comics medium. Conceptually and aesthetically one can also explore the border on the comics page, through the variable or imaginary lines that define panels or the page. Narratively speaking, comics blur borders, including genre, such as the constant evolution of the superhero. The medium also plays with the borders between modes of expression, as sound becomes visible; words become drawn; and the material becomes digital. In turn, we can ask whether there are borders between the terms ‘comic’, ‘graphic novel’, ‘sequential art’, ‘manga’, or ‘bande dessinée’? The body too has its borders: the inside and outside; gendered and racial identities; human versus animal or machine; dead versus alive.
