The Buyer's Guide THE Honda Civic BUYER’S GUIDE 5200 Lake Worth Rd, Greenacres, FL 33463 BramanHondaPB.com 561-790-8570 BramanHondaPB.com 561-790-8570 1 Whether you’re squaring off with the morning grind or venturing out to the beach for a weekend adventure, versatility is a must. If you’re looking for a sporty yet efficient car that was built to do it all, the Honda Civic can’t be overlooked. Across its many trim levels and configurations, the Civic offers up a bevy of amenities and styling choices. Some options are made more for the consummate athlete, and others for the eco-conscious drivers. In this detailed buyer’s guide to the Honda Civic, we’ll cover all the highlights, showing you just what this sleek ride is capable of! BramanHondaPB.com 561-790-8570 2 Civic Style: Choosing the Right Model While the high performance of the Civic is consistent across all trims and models, you’ll find that the overall look of your car changes drastically depending on which body style you choose. You’ll have three different options to choose from: Sedan, Coupe, or Hatchback. The Civic Sedan is your classic 4-door model. Extra roomy and easily accessible from the front and back, it’s a great choice for any crew that frequently features second-row passengers. If you most often drive solo or with only a co-pilot up front, the Civic Coupe is an excellent choice. Without the rear doors, it presents a more steeply sloped rear, one that closely resembles the fastback automobile of the 1950s or 1960s. Lastly, the Civic Hatchback is an exceptional choice for drivers that need a little bit of added cargo space. Not only does the hatch make loading up your luggage or shopping bags easier, it also offers up more space to do so. Civic Coupe Variant: The Si The standard Civic Coupe has a distinctly sporty look. However, things are really kicked into high gear in the Civic Si Coupe variant. The interior and exterior are both updated with exclusive sport accents such as the body-color rear spoiler. Performance gets a boost, too, with its 6-speed manual transmission and the 205-horsepower turbocharged engine. Civic Hatchback Variant: The Type R Much like the Si Coupe variant, the Type R Hatchback variant employs a sportier look with a body-color rear spoiler and red exterior accents. Its racetrack DNA asserts itself boldly with 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. If it’s pure speed and curve-controlled handling that you’re looking for, the Type R has that and so much more. BramanHondaPB.com 561-790-8570 3 The Honda Civic: A Well-Balanced Ride While we know that the Coupe and Hatchback models and their sport variants are built with high power in mind, what does the popular Sedan offer up? To put it simply: balance. The Civic Sedan is an eco-conscious commuter that ekes out great gas mileage without neglecting horsepower. Across its trim levels, you’ll find two different engines available. 2.0L Inline 4-Cylinder Standard in the base LX trim and the Sport trim, you’ll find the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. In an effort to beat out many other compact Sedans in its class, it’s primed to generate 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. In a car like this Sedan, that kind of power equates to pure pep. 2.0L Inline 4-Cylinder with Turbocharging If it’s something of an upgrade you’re looking for, you’ll want to opt for the turbocharged 4-cylinder that is found in the EX, EX-L, and Touring trim levels. It ups horsepower to 174 and amps up torque considerably to 162 lb-ft. The additional power makes it easier to accelerate quicker as you merge onto the highway during your morning commute. Maximum Fuel Efficiency Power such as what the two Civic Sedan engines provide is made all the sweeter when it is balanced by high fuel efficiency. You’ll actually find the top MPG in the EX and EX-L trim levels with the turbocharged engine. Pair this powertrain with a Continuously Variable Transmission and you’ll maintain an EPA-estimated 42 MPG highway, 32 MPG city, and 36 combined.1 BramanHondaPB.com 561-790-8570 4 Smart Safety to Combat the Roughest Roads Across its many configurations, the Honda Civic has a ton of highlights. However, one that you’ll see popping up time and again is its expansive safety array. In addition to being constructed with Advanced Compatibility Engineering™, a body structure that deflects and absorbs impact forces, the Civic offers up a number of protective technologies. Perhaps the most extensive safety array in the Civic is the Honda Sensing® suite, which comes standard in all its trim levels. This suite runs on a network of sensors and small cameras that monitor the roads around your vehicle. They can read road markings, calculate following distances, and more. If the suite predicts a collision is imminent, it can even act autonomously to keep you safe. Honda Sensing® Safety Features • Collision Mitigation Braking System™: If a frontal collision is unavoidable, your Civic will hit the brakes for you. • Road Departure Mitigation System: When you veer out of your intended lane without using a turn signal, the vehicle will course correct and steer you back into place. • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow: This feature measures following distances when engaged and will hit the brakes if the car in front of you does the same. • Lane Keeping Assist System: During long drives, this feature provides consistent steering assis to keep you centered in your lane. Honda LaneWatch™ In addition to standard Honda Sensing®, top trims of the Civic also come with the Honda LaneWatch™ system. It helps you see that the coast is clear during right turns by projecting a live video feed of your blind spot on the central touchscreen. With this feature on your side, you shouldn’t have to worry about turning or merging into another car. BramanHondaPB.com 561-790-8570 5 Interior Elegance for All Tastes The Honda Civic is a cozy 5-seater, making it a great choice for small families or a driver with a close group of friends. Its standard cloth seating and roomy 97.8 cubic feet of passenger space mean that even in the base trim, you’ll have plenty of room to stretch out and relax during your longest drives. Nevertheless, if you’re looking to up your cabin comfort, these upgrades were made to delight. Classy Leather Appointments If cloth seating isn’t to your taste, no worries. Leather appointments are available in numerous colors for a stain-free option that is as breathable as it is chic. You can also add in leather wraps to the steering wheel and shift knob for uniformity. Power Heated Seating The most comfortable driver’s seat is the one that really hugs and contours your body. The available 8-way power-adjustable seat in the Civic allows drivers to more finely configure their seating position and ensure they’re at peak comfort. There’s even seat heating available if you’re driving through a colder climate! One-Touch Power Moonroof While out exploring your town or city, or perhaps even trekking to the great outdoors, feel free to pop open the available One-Touch Power Moonroof and breathe in some fresh air. This makes for a great view of the starry night sky or the blue clouds of a sunshine-filled day. Ambient Interior Illumination A night-time drive is the perfect time to decompress and contemplate. When your Civic cabin is lit up in gentle interior lighting, you can really set the ambiance. This soft blue glow is offered in the front footwells, console, and armrest. BramanHondaPB.com 561-790-8570 6 Let the Good Times Roll with Civic Infotainment Between work commutes, weekend adventures, and the occasional road-trip vacation, you’re bound to spend hours and hours behind the wheel of your Civic. Fortunately, plenty of technologies are on offer to enhance your carpool karaoke sessions and podcast binges. Wireless Mobile Integration There’s no need to fully disconnect from your cellphone just because you’re on the go. This is your multimedia hub, after all, and the Civic offers simple wireless integration with the help of Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. When these features are in use, you can view your favorite home-screen phone apps on the car’s touchscreen. Access your music library, audiobooks, podcasts, or navigation right from here. Premium Audio Upgrades Speaking of music and podcasts, all are going to sound so much better with a voluminous speaker system on your side. The Civic offers an available 10-speaker system that produces a hair-raising 450 watts of power. The speakers are carefully placed through the entirety of the vehicle, so every seat should have crystal-clear sound. An Advanced GPS System If you’re looking to chart new courses and explore unknown cities, the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ ought to be a huge help. This full-color system offers turn-by-turn GPS directions so that you never get lost while in a new place! Experience Civic Power & Comfort Firsthand It’s one thing to read about the smooth and sporty Civic, but in order to get the full picture, you’re going to have to get behind the wheel. The many cutting-edge technologies and performance features found in this car need to be experienced to understood truly.

  • Nissan Delivers Stylish Fun with Altima Coupe
Test Drive: Nissan delivers stylish fun with Altima coupe Even though front-wheel-drive coupes aren't big sellers, Nissan took the financial risk to develop a sleek, two-door version of the redesigned 2008 Altima sedan and came up with a terrific mainstream coupe. Its stylish silhouette rivals the beauty of Nissan's Infiniti G35 luxury coupe (Test Drive, March 15). That might annoy those who paid twice as much for the Infiniti, but surely will appeal to those who want much of the G's visual cachet for considerably less money. "Every body panel is different from the (Altima) sedan, except the hood. The investment was significant," says John Curl,. an Altima product manager. "We didn't want to just build a two-door sedan." Power delivery in the V-6, regular-production test car was delightful. Nissan seems to have proprietary voodoo it works on CVTs (continuously variable automatic transmissions) to keep them from feeling like a manual transmission with a slipping clutch, as some rival CVTs do. Nail the throttle and there's a definite, solid downshift to a lower gear ratio for fast acceleration. No brutal revving of the engine without commensurate leap of the vehicle. Whatever Nissan does to the pulleys-and-belt CVT elevates it to the level of pleasing, appealing and satisfying. Handling of the loaded, $31,980 test car was sufficient for most drivers most of the time. The coupe's suspension is tuned differently than the sedan's, giving the two-door a crisper driving feel, which is an accomplishment because the Altima sedan feels pretty crisp and agile and sporty.

Following its global debut at the New York International Auto Show in April 2015, the new model range marks the entry of McLaren into the luxury sports car market, introducing race-derived technologies and supercar performance in a package which is very much a pure McLaren. Lightweight construction, including the use of a carbon fiber chassis, recognizable design values and a comprehensive specification list ensures a class-leading offering, and as uncompromised as is expected from a McLaren. With pricing starting at $184,900, the 570S Coupe is available to order now with deliveries in the U.S. starting before the end of 2015. The latest addition to the range completes the three tier model strategy for McLaren alongside the Super Series and Ultimate Series. The Sports Series is the most usable and attainable model to wear a McLaren badge to date, but it retains the core design and dynamic focus that ensures it is still worthy of the iconic name.

  • HLDI Bulletin | Vol 37, No
Highway Loss Data Institute Bulletin Vol. 37, No. 4 : April 2020 Convertibles versus coupes Summary Many vehicle series are available in both a coupe and convertible body type. This Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) study compares the injury rates and collision claim frequencies of convertibles with those of their coupe counterparts. Convertibles and coupes of the same vehicle series generally look similar and have identical length and width dimensions, but differ in curb weight, base price, and internal structure. Typically, coupes are more rigid and have better handling than convertibles. The absence of a fixed roof makes it a challenge to design a convertible for safety. The roof helps to maintain the rigidity of the structure around the occupant compartment and keep the compartment intact in a serious crash. The main structures of convertibles need to be strengthened to compensate for the support that is lost in removing the roof. The following figure shows the estimated percent change in the injury rate and in collision claim frequency due to body type when compar- ing convertibles with their coupe counterparts. Also shown are the respective 95 percent confidence limits. Injury rates and collision claim frequencies for both convertible types were lower than coupes, with all differences statistically significant at the 0.05 level. The lower results for convertibles compared with their corresponding coupes may be due to the convertibles’ higher curb weight, the socioeconomic differences in the drivers, or how the vehicles are driven. Hardtop convertibles had lower injury rates and slightly higher collision claim frequencies than soft-tops. The types of vehicles in the groups may contribute to this difference, as BMW vehicles dominated the hardtop group and Chevrolet and Ford vehicles dominated the soft-top group.
