CLERGY WELCOME PACK Introduction: Edmonton Area Mission and Ministry The Diocese of London From the Bishop of Edmonton Welcome to the Diocese of London and to the Edmonton Episcopal Area. This is an aide memoire for topics which we may have already discussed in our meetings prior to your acceptance of appointment. It is intended to be a quick reference and resource, highlighting key personnel and strategy documents to support you as exercise your ministry with us, and more importantly, to indicate how these might be accessed. Please use this alongside the detailed induction which you will receive within a month of being inducted/licensed from the Area Director of Training and Development. The documentation may include: • Support structures pre and post induction/licensing. • Ministerial/Priest Partner job description and expectations • List of key personnel in the Diocese and Area • Strategy Documents for Mission and Ministry and Mission Action • planning • Liturgy of Initiation • Diocesan Child Protection Policy Guidelines • Diocesan Guidelines for Clergy with Readers (where appropriate). • Places located in the Area for Spiritual reflection/retreats/leadership • vision sharing • Fostering & Discerning Vocations It is expected that you will participate in the Diocesan and Area Ministerial programmes, and encourage your lay people to exercise their Christian calling through on-going learning, and working collaboratively with you in the Church and community. The Diocesan website has information regarding the Diocesan Regulations, courses and seminars, the Diocesan cycle of prayer, and may be accessed on http://www.london.anglican.org/ministrymatters . When using the Diocesan Regulations, you need to bear in mind that the foundation documentation is in ‘The Canons of the Church of England’. The Bishops of the Diocese are committed in their hopes and aspirations in The London Challenge to leading a Church that is outward looking, prayerful, and engaged with its culture in communicating the good news of Jesus Christ.
