Bibliography………………………………………………………………….pg 36 2 Introduction and teaching suggestions The purpose of this teaching project is to guide Latin III students through Petronius' Satyricon with ease. By Latin III, the students should be reading unaltered texts in Latin. It is important that the students read texts written by Romans, instead of teachers. Students can learn information about culture and language from reading the words of the Romans. This project is designed to help young students navigate their way through an authentic text. This unit has been designed to take about 12 days. The lesson plans are laid out for group work. This Petronius project lends itself to be incorporated into a larger Roman author unit. I incorporate Petronius as one of the six Romans authors whom I expose my students during a semester. This unit could be longer. Students could translate and discuss only one page a day with daily review of the previous page. Using the suggested extension activities would also extend the unit. It is important to read and discuss the introduction with the students in order to familiarize them with the time period, author, and genre of the Satyricon. -

TAX COLLECTIONS Yates, 18, who is a five-time state high school bass 5 - 11 fishing champion, was one of just 12 high school CAMPAIGN LETTERS anglers chosen from around the country for the first 12 - 13 high school All-American fishing team named by the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) ELECTION COMMISSION The 12 anglers were selected not just for their bass 16 tournament success but also academics, community CULTURAL PRESERVATION service and their involvement in conservation efforts. The dozen high school anglers have been invited to 17 compete in the first-ever Bassmaster High School All HORSE SHOE BEND American Bass Tournament to be held June 3-7 on Kentucky 18 - 19 and Barkley Lakes in Tennessee. The tournament is being held in conjunction with BASSfest, which combines an Elite JUNE BIRTHDAYS Series pro tournament with a festival. Each high school angler will be paired with a 21 Bassmaster Elite Series pro for the one-day tournament. HEALTH SYSTEM UPDATE For Yates, it’s just another accomplishment to add to an already impressive fishing 26-27 resume. His prep tournament victories include the Oklahoma B.A.S.S Nation High School state FOSTER CARE championship three times and The Bass Federation state high school title twice. -

At CBGB OMFUG:1977 Send to Friend jump to allmovie Dead Boys jump to allgame Review by Greg Prato Very little pro-shot, color footage exists of the first wave of CBGB's bands, let alone a full show. But the Dead Boys were one of the few lucky acts to have had an entire show taped (which was done originally for a TV special on the punk rock movement), and the results can now finally be sampled in their entirety on the Live at CBGB 1977 DVD. Perhaps since they knew they were being filmed that night, the bandmembers pull no punches in this performance, especially Stiv Bators, who hands in such an over the top performance that he often collapses on-stage at the end of the numbers. Also interesting is to see what an authentic CB's crowd looked like way back when — few to no Mohawks or safety pins are detected — for the most part, just a regular-looking crowd. Taped right around the time of the release of the group's classic debut, Young Loud & Snotty, many of the expected early faves turn up here in turbocharged form, including "Sonic Reducer," "All This and More," and "What Love Is," as well as an explosive set-closing cover of the Stooges' "Search and Destroy." Also included as a bonus are interviews with all of the group's bandmembers from the same day of the show, as well as a modern-day chat with Cheetah Chrome.
