Book.indb 6 9/16/11 3:44 PM 3M™ Simply Interactive System, Version 2 Installing the 3M Simply Interactive System English Pre-Installation The 3M Simply Interactive System comes with the hardware necessary to install onto a 3M™ SCP716/SCP725/SCP716W/SCP725W projector. Additionally, the system comes with software that is compatible with a computer running Microsoft® Windows®, Mac OS® X or Linux®. The hardware is a camera and pen tool. The software application receives the location of the pen from the USB camera to emulate a mouse interface or touch interface action. For best performance, please consider these items before you install the 3M Simply Interactive System: t Screen Surface: The pen requires a smooth and hard writing surface (whiteboard is recommended) to prevent damage to the pen tip or the screen surface. Note: Painted wood, wallpaper, sheetrock, cement or chalkboard surfaces are not recommended because they are typically too soft (pen will dent and scratch surface) or too coarse (rough surface will damage pen tip). t IR Interference: The 3M Simply Interactive System works in most office and school lighting conditions except where infra-red (IR) light is present. The 3M Simply Interactive System uses IR for detecting the pen location. Other IR light sources can cause interference with the system. Some IR light sources are direct or indirect sunlight, IR remote controls, and IR . The illustration below shows the viewable area that is seen by the camera. To reduce the chance of IR interference, remove all direct and reflected IR light sources from this area.
