Dear Haycock Parents, We may live in an eclectic community with many diverse perspectives and backgrounds, but one thing we all agree on is the importance of a strong education for our kids. Nowhere has that been more evident than in planning this auction. The generosity of teachers, parents, and businesses from both near and far has led to more than 350 items in this auction worth tens of thousands of dollars. We will see on auction night whether the overall proceeds can exceed the face value of these gifts, but in many ways we have already succeeded – the outpouring of support has been as overwhelming as it has been humbling. To Mr. Donnelly and the Haycock teachers and staff, every day we entrust our children to your care. We are overwhelmingly honored to be able to present you with these additional resources to help you keep raising an already high bar even higher. On top of all the work you already do, you have continued to give even more by making personal contributions to make this fundraising as successful as possible. We continue to be grateful for your roles as educators and leaders in our community. To our parents – and especially our room parents – you have been so wonderful to collaborate with and generous with your time and creativity. Your thoughtfulness about how we could maximize all contributions to do the most for Haycock makes us proud to be working with you for our kids. The work that has gone into this auction has taken the energy and spirit of an amazing and always proactive auction planning team. Our members have stayed up late, woken up early, knocked on hundreds of doors, and fielded hundreds (thousands?) of e-mails to pitch, plan, and produce this event over the course of the last six months. To the auction team members: You each are an inspiration and this night could not have come together without your efforts. Thank you. * * * As we have gone through this process, people have asked us whether parents are coming to the auction to find a bargain or to raise funds for the school. Only you can make that decision, but as you look through the items up for auction in the remainder of the book, consider the generosity of those who do not personally know our kids, but have been willing to contribute these auction items in their names. We look forward to a fun-filled, action-packed evening filled with friendly competition and the merriment of a night in New Orleans. Let the good times roll!! Katie and Roopal The SilenT AucTion TeAm The auction team has demonstrated what an amazing group with an important common goal can accomplish. While calling out individual efforts seems counter-intuitive for this huge team of individuals and families who selflessly made this event what it is, we would like to recognize some of the individuals who took on additional responsibilities for making tonight’s celebration a reality. co-chAirS Roopal Saran and Katie Pisocky DonATionS clASS ProjecTS Cathy Sarris, Chair Jessica Davis, Coordinator Traci Ball The parent volunteers who assisted classes with their wonderful projects! Please bring your auction catalog with you to the event. Use the catalog to make notes so you don’t for- get about an item you want! 2. Upon arriving, check in at the reception desk and pick up your auction packet and bid number. Charge purchases, play games, and bid for silent and live auction items using this number. If you do not have a credit card on file from your ticket purchase, please take a moment to register a credit card. 3. The items for the silent auction will be arranged by section in the auction catalog and in the displays at the event. The section names are shown in bold in this catalog. 4. A bid sheet will be next to each item, and it will include a description of the item, the minimum bid and bid increments. To place a bid, put one of your bidder number stickers in the appropriate location to indicate your bid amount. All bids must start at no less than the assigned minimum bid, and bids must in- crease in the increments indicated on the bid sheet. You may skip bid amounts and go to larger amounts further down the bid sheet. 5. At intervals throughout the evening, groups of sections will close following the schedule indicated on the next page. The auctioneer will make an announcement when sections are preparing to close. If you desire an item in that section, check to see if you are the highest bidder, (and if not, be sure to get your best bid in.) 6. Items will be awarded to the highest bidder at closing. Please do not remove bid sheets, items or props from the tables. Bidding in each section of the silent auction continues until its group is closed. 7. Certain items offered in the silent auction have been assigned “Buy It Now” values. The first bidder who desires to guarantee purchasing an item available for “Buy It Now” may do so by placing a bidder number sticker in the “Buy It Now” location on the item’s bid sheet. Once a “Buy It Now” amount has been bid, all bidding on that item ceases. 8. Throughout the evening, you will have the opportunity to play the various games and buy Bead Bonanza necklaces. Those opportunities, as well as the photography project, are described in the next section of this catalog. 9. At the end of the evening, please make your way to the check-out area to pick up your items and receipts. 10. All auction items and game bids must be paid in full by cash, check, or credit card (Visa/Mastercard/ Amex) and removed from the Knights of Columbus by 11:00 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2017. In order to provide the convenience of credit card usage, we pay a surcharge that will be deducted from the pro- ceeds. Therefore, we will ask you whether you would like to keep the charges on your credit card on file or instead switch to paying by check. 11. A written or verbal bid constitutes a legal contract to purchase an item. All sales are final with no re- funds or exchanges. Everything is sold “as is.” Please read specifications and limitations carefully. The PTA makes no warranties or representations of any kind with respect to any item or service sold. In making this purchase, the buyer waives any claim against either the Haycock Elementary PTA or any donor of the property or services. Neither the PTA nor the donor is responsible for any personal injury or damage to the property that may result from use of the property or services sold. 12. In the event of a bidding dispute, the decision of the Haycock PTA Silent Auction Committee is final. The Committee reserves the right to add or withdraw, without notice, items to or from the auction. 13. The purchaser has the responsibility to contact the donor for the services and/or merchandise purchased. Please do not ask donors to make substitutions, cash refunds, or changes of any auction item. Unless specified, auction items and services must be used within one year from the auction date. evening ScheDule 7:00 pm Registration/Bidding Opens 8:30 pm Third Group Closes (FRENCH MARKET) Photography Project (7:00 – 10:00 pm) 5000 Sports Items and Experiences Bead Bonanza (while supplies last until 9:00 pm) 5500 Handmade Treasures Masquerade Madness 6000 Class Projects (while supplies last until 9:00 pm) 8:40 pm Fourth Group Closes (ST.
