1 Day or 2 Day Run to Queen Mary Falls - 7/8 November 2020 Members travelling from Gold Coast: Members travelling from Brisbane: Meet at 7.30 at the intersection of the Nerang/ Meet at 8.15 at the intersection of the Beaudesert/ Murwillumbah Road and the Beaudesert/ Nerang Beenleigh Road and Mundoolun Connection Road just after Road after turning into the Beaudesert/Nerang Road the intersection in the Beaudesert/Beenleigh Road. • At Beaudesert, all drive to Boonah, by-passing Boonah at about 9.00. • At the intersection of the Boonah Fassifern Road and the Cunningham Highway, turn left on the Cunningham Highway and after passing through the , continue past Goomburra Road on the right beside the Gladfield Driver Reviver Rest Area . • Turn left into Freestone Road to drive to Freestone, arriving at about 10.00. • Notable historical buildings and points of interest are the Old Railway Store (South Georgia), Railway Grain Shed, Freestone Hall, Mt Dumaresq. • Drive to Swan Creek via Freestone Road and Freestone Jack Smith Creek Road and Gully Road. • Notable historical buildings and points of interest are White Swan Inn, the historical house called Burndale, Swan Creek School of Arts at 1018 Warwick Yangan Road, Swan Creek State School. • Swan Creek was originally part of Canning Downs Pastoral Run established by the Leslie Brothers in 1840. • Drive to Yangan via Warwick Yangan Road. • Notable historical buildings and points of interest are School of Arts, Yangan Masonic Hall at 36 King Street. • MORNING TEA/REFRESHMENT STOP • The Yangan Hotel/Motel could be an appropriate morning tea/refreshment stop, as any other place is not avail- able on the route to Killarney • Drive to Emu Vale via Yangan Killarney Road. • Drive to Danderoo via Yangan Killarney Road. • Drive to Tannymorel via Yangan Killarney Road. • Drive to Mt Colliery via Tannymorel Mt Colliery Road • Drive to Killarney via Yangan Killarney Road, arriving at about 12.00 (mid-day). • LUNCH STOP • Killarney Hotel/Motel • Notable historical buildings and points of interest are Melrose Station Homestead at Killarney Barlows Gate Road, Butter Factory Co-Op Building, Mackenzies Emporium, (St Vincent de Paul Boutique), Commercial bank (opposite the Post Office), Post Office, Killarney Hotel, National Bank, (foundations are in the vacant land beside St Vincent de Paul Boutique), CWA Building 1888 on timber stumps built over Gravel Creek, Teviot Falls, Queen Mary Falls, Daggs Falls, Browns Falls, Upper Browns Falls, Cambanoora George (rich biodiversity region with access on good unsealed Condamine River Road). • Return route via Warwick Killarney Road to New England Highway to Cunningham Highway to retrace route to Brisbane or The Gold Coast with possible diversion to Towri Sheep Cheeses, Allenview near Wyaralong Dam beside the Beaudesert Boonah Road. SOME ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS FOR 2 DAY DRIVE

The drive should provide adequate time after lunch to visit the attractions of Killarney as well as its environs, including the Queen Mary Falls. Members will be afforded flexibility in the time they wish to spend at any of the attractions on route both in the drive from Freestone to Killarney as well as in the afternoon after lunch at the Killarney Hotel/ Motel with reasonable time to return home on Saturday 7th November or if they prefer, to return home on Sunday 8th November.
