DAY 01: Cairns to Atherton (80 km) Your journey begins in Cairns, which is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, the tropical rainforest of the World Heritage region and the rugged outback of the Cape York Peninsula and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Today’s drive takes you to Kuranda, a cultural village in the rainforest. As well as the original Kuranda markets (operating Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday), the Heritage markets are open every day. Drive onto Mareeba, where you can savour the region’s aromatic coffee and continue onto the town of Atherton, the hub of the Atherton Tablelands, which are situated between the Bellenden Ker Range and the Great Dividing Range.

DAY 02: Atherton to Mt Surprise (Undara National Park - 212 km) Start the morning off early with a visit to along the Malanda Atherton Road where you can either go for a refreshing swim or a rainforest walk. Travelling from Malanda to Ravenshoe along the Millaa Millaa / Malanda Road your first stop will be the start of the waterfall circuit which include Millaa Millaa, Elinjaa and Zillie Falls. Continue onto the township of Ravenshoe. The Visitor Centre is worth a visit, as is Windy Hill, one of Queensland’s largest wind farms.

From Ravenshoe, follow the Kennedy Highway to Innot Hot Springs, famous for its unique natural thermal mineral springs. Travelling further west on the Kennedy Highway, the highway passes through the heart of Forty Mile Scrub National Park - part of the Undara Lava Fields. Arrive at Undara Volcanic National Park by mid afternoon and in time for the Wildlife at sunset tour, where you can experience the vastness of the Gulf Savannah with the sun setting on the horizon whilst sipping champagne and canapés.

DAY 03: Mt Surprise to Charters Towers (401 km) You may like to rise early for a morning walk before joining the Undara staff and guests at ringer camp for breakfast. The Undara Lava Tubes were formed 190,000 years ago and is the largest Lava Tube systems on earth. This morning understand more about this system on the half day Lava Tube tour.

From Undara, you will be travelling along the Gregory Developmental Road to Charters Towers. Your first stop will be at the Lynd Junction, which is home to the smallest bar in Australia. Continue onto the Dalrymple National Park or locally know as Bluff Downs where you can take a break for afternoon tea. Arrive in Charters Towers which is bursting with living history of the gold rush day of the 1800’s. We suggest you head to the Visitor Information Centre to obtain a navigational map for the Ghosts of Gold Heritage Trail.

DAY 04: Charters Towers to Townsville (138 km) Spend some time in Charter Towers exploring the gold rush history. Then take a leisurely drive east along the Flinders Highway into Townsville, a modern, tropical city and the administrative capital of North Queensland. A visit to the Great Barrier Reef Wonderland is recommended; it houses the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium. This evening join in with the locals for a walk along the waterfront esplanade, known as “The Strand”.

05:Townsville to Mission Beach (235 km)DAY Spend the morning exploring Townsville, then head north along the Bruce Highway for Mission Beach. A side trip to the Paluma Range National Park is a must take a picnic lunch and relax at Big or Little Crystal Creek. DAY 07: Mission Beach to Cairns (139 km) Today is the last day of your journey. Depart Mission Beach for Cairns along the Bruce Highway. At Silkwood take the Old Bruce Highway scenic drive through Mena Creek to visit the intriguing Paronella Park. Continue onto South Johnstone, an historic sugar town, before reaching Innisfail, which is home to the Australian Sugar Museum and many Art Deco buildings. Detour near Babinda to explore the natural wonders of the Wooroonooran National Park, including The Boulders. If time permits, perhaps stop at home to the Noongyanbudda Ngadjon-jii people. Make the last part of your journey north on the Bruce Highway to the tropical city of Cairns.

TOP END DISCOVERY Darwin to Darwin(D04) DURATION: 6 DAYS

DAY 01: Darwin to Kakadu National Park (210 km) After collecting the vehicle and driving east out of Darwin turn left on to the Arnhem Highway and head for the Kakadu National Park. Suggest a stop at Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre, and then perhaps Adelaide River for an optional Jumping Crocodile cruise. The scenery on the way is dramatic and colourful with bird life, wet lands and high escarpments. A visit to the Bowali Visitor Centre is a must to learn more about this unique environment.

DAY 02: Kakadu National Park You have a full day at leisure to explore Kakadu. This morning take the included 1.5 hour Yellow Waters Cruises from Cooinda. After your cruise call into the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Other sights to see today include a visit to Nourlangie Rock and Ubirr Rock, or an optional scenic flight. Aboriginal rock art in this area is very well preserved and accessible. It’s worth taking a guided tour to have the history of the rock art explained to you.

DAY 03: Kakadu National Park to Katherine (310 km) Leave Kakadu and head south on the Kakadu Highway towards Pine Creek. At Pine Creek you re-join the Stuart Highway and travel on south to Katherine, making a leisurely stop at the beautiful . The Katherine Gorge is located 30 km from the town centre; here the river flows between towering walls of colour.

DAY 04: Katherine This morning take the included 2 hour gorge cruise. Katherine Gorge is a system of 13 gorges all joining by rapids. The best way to see the Gorge is from the water, there are also scenic flights and plenty of marked walking tracks. This afternoon suggests a visit Mataranka, which is 106 km from Katherine. Mataranka is situated in Elsey National Park and here the Mataranka Thermal Pool is found. This is a very popular swimming spot - the thermal pool is around a constant temperature of 34 degrees Celsius.

DAY 05: Katherine to Litchfield National Park and Lake Bennett (455 km) This morning drive north on the Stuart Highway and turn left onto the Batchelor Road. Litchfield National Park is the Top End’s most accessible natural attraction and offers safe swimming and spectacular waterfalls all year round. The main attractions in Litchfield National Park including Buley Rockhole, Wangi, Tolmer and are all linked by quality sealed roads. There is swimming in specified areas, photography, wildlife observation and bushwalks ranging from a 20 minute stroll to extended walks. DAY 01: Hobart On arrival in Hobart collect the vehicle and then the rest of the day is at leisure to explore Hobart. Hobart is an attractive city built around a beautiful harbour in the shadow of Mount Wellington. Hobart spreads out over the area from the bottom of Mt Wellington to both sides of the Tasman Bridge. Places of interest include the Royal Botanical Gardens, Constitution Dock, Sandy Bay, Salamanca Place and Battery Point.

DAY 02: Hobart to Strahan (300 km) Leave Hobart and travel north via New Norfolk on the Lyall Highway – a spectacular road across the heart of Tasmania to the village of Strahan. This is following the Great Circle Route. The scenery on this drive is quite spectacular passing through the World Heritage Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Stop in Queenstown, surrounded by stark mountains, giving the town an eerie look. Strahan is the only town on Tasmania’s rugged West Coast and is situated on Macquarie Harbour.

DAY 03: Strahan to Cradle Mountain National Park (138 km) This morning you can take an optional cruise along the Gordon River. Cruises depart at 9am and return at 2pm. Depart Strahan and travel north to the small town of Zeehan en route to Cradle Mountain. From Zeehan continue on to Rosebery. Leaving the town of Rosebery travel through Tullah and then to the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park.

DAY 04: Cradle Mountain National Park Day at leisure to explore Cradle Mountain situated in St Clair National Park with its forests and abundance of wildlife. DAY 01: Launceston

After collecting your vehicle the time is yours to explore Launceston, Tasmania’s second largest city, nestled in the hilly country where the Tamar, North Esk and South Esk rivers meet. Only 10 minutes from the city centre is the magnificent Cataract Gorge, here almost vertical cliffs line the banks of the South Esk River as it enters the Tamar. MELBOURNE TO SYDNEY COASTAL DRIVE(M11) DURATION: 7 DAYS

DAY 01: Melbourne to Phillip Island (141 km) Take the short journey to Phillip Island. It is only a 2 hour drive through the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Philip Island is home to Australia’s famous Little Penguins; however there are many other sights to see such as the Grand Prix circuit and Fur Seal colony at Seal Rocks. The famous `Penguin Parade’ occurs each evening at sunset and should not be missed.

Day 02: Phillip Island to Wilsons Promontory (124 km) Depart Phillip Island and continue along the coastal Bass Highway to Wonthaggi and Inverloch where you may like to stop for morning tea before turning onto the Promontory Road which takes you straight into Wilsons Promontory. Spend the afternoon following the many walking tracks through eucalypt forests and wildflowers to secluded coves, white sand beaches and granite mountains.

Day 03: Wilsons Promontory to Lakes Entrance (274 km) Today make your way from Wilsons Promontory to Foster, and then join the South Gippsland Highway to reach Sale. Continue on the Princes Highway via Bairnsdale to reach Lakes Entrance. Lakes Entrance is a unique area with rivers, lakes and lagoons joining 90 Mile Beach. Take a cruise or a sail around Australia’s largest inland waterway. Explore the nearby village of Metung also located on the beautiful lakes.

Day 04: Lakes Entrance to Merimbula (267 km) Depart Lakes Entrance and travel to Orbost, situated on the banks of the Snowy River. This is a Gippsland timber village which is surrounded by spectacular coastal and mountain territory. A further 75 kilometres is Cann River, excellent for its fishing and bush walking in the rugged hinterland. Continue driving along the Princes Highway crossing the Victorian and New South Wales border and onto Eden. To the south and north of Eden is the Ben Boyd National Park. Travel onto your destination today of Merimbula.

Day 05: Merimbula to Batemans Bay (175 km) From Merimbula, take the coast road through Tathra and Tanja to Bermagui and be sure to stop in the quaint town of Tilba Tilba. Re-join the Princes Highway and travel onto Narooma, a popular fishing resort. Take the coast road again from Moruya to Batemans Bay. Batemans Bay is a picturesque coastal village known for its crayfish and oysters.

Day 06: Batemans Bay to Jervis Bay (226 km) Re-join the Princes Highway this morning as you depart Batemans Bay, travelling north to Ulladulla, and then take the turn-off for Huskisson and Jervis Bay. Nearby Hyams Beach, is known to have the whitest sand in the world. Jervis Bay is well known for its resident dolphin population and a dolphin cruise is a must.

Day 07: Jervis Bay to Sydney (198 km) On the final stretch home, your journey takes you along the Grand Pacific Drive from Wollongong to Sydney. DAY 01: Sydney to Jervis Bay (198 km) Leaving Sydney you will drive south along the Coast line to the beautiful Jervis Bay. Travel south of Sydney through the Royal National Park and onto the Grand Pacific Drive with spectacular coastal scenery. Travel across the impressive Sea Cliff Bridge and through rainforests and quaint coastal villages to reach Wollongong. Take the turn-off for Huskisson and Jervis Bay. DAY 02: Jervis Bay to Batemans Bay (141 km) Today you will continue your voyage south to Batemans Bay. DAY 03: Batemans Bay to Merimbula (175 km) Following the Princes Highway you’ll drive through many towns and beautiful forests on your way to the state border of New South Wales and Victoria. Pass through Tilba Tilba, and then drive along the amazing Sapphire Coast to the city of Merimbula where lagoons, lakes and ocean are separated by white sand, and fringed by unspoilt bushland stretching up into the mountains.

DAY 04: Merimbula to Lakes Entrance (267 km) Travel south via Cann River along the Princes Highway. Near Cabbage Tree Creek leave the highway and visit the Cape Conran Coastal Park and the village of Marlo. Rejoin the highway at Orbost, situated on the banks of the Snowy River. It is a short drive onto Lakes Entrance. Lakes Entrance is a unique area with rivers, lakes and lagoons joining 90 Mile Beach. Take a cruise or a sail around Australia’s largest inland waterway. Explore the nearby village of Metung also located on the beautiful lakes.

DAY 05: Lakes Entrance to Wilsons Promontory (274 km) Leaving Lakes Entrance you’ll continue along the Princes Highway through the stunning Victorian bushland. Day 06: Wilsons Promontory to Phillip Island (124 km) The drive from Wilsons Promontory to Phillip Island boasts stunning views of Victoria’s southern coast. The route is dotted with many small towns that have that quaint country feel to them. DAY 01: Sydney to Blue Mountains (100 km) Head west for the Blue Mountains, named for their distinctive blue haze, they are one of the most spectacular and captivating wilderness parks in the country. The major scenic attraction is Echo Point, from where the best views of the Jamison Valley and the magnificent Three Sisters rock formation are. Visit the spectacular Wentworth Falls and enjoy a trip on the scenic railway with dramatic views of the Jamieson Valley. DAY 02: Blue Mountains to Hunter Valley (212 km) If you wish, spend some more time exploring the Blue Mountains before your departure to the Hunter Valley. SOUTH WEST HIGHLIGHTS PERTH – PERTH (P07) DURATION: 6 Days

DAY 01: Perth to Margaret River (270 km) Collect your car and head south to Bunbury, home to the Koombana Bay dolphins. A group of up to 100 wild bottle nose dolphins live in the city’s bay. Take the Dolphin Watch Eco Cruise (own expense) that departs at 11.00am (please note driving down from Perth takes approx. 2 hours). The cruise ticket also includes admission to the Dolphin Discovery Centre. From here continue on to Busselton and then short drive south to Margaret River home to some of Australia’s finest wineries. The town is well known for its surfing beaches and magnificent coastal scenery.

DAY 02: Margaret River Day at leisure to explore the fine wineries, beaches and the gourmet delights that the Margaret River region has to offer. Must see attractions of the region include Busselton Jetty and Underwater Observatory, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and the Ngilgi Cave.

DAY 03: Margaret River to Pemberton (187 km) Leave Margaret River this morning and travel south on one of the State’s most scenic drives, Caves Road. See two oceans meet at the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse (tours leave on the hour) and then make your way to the tall timber country surrounding Pemberton. Enjoy a forest walk or if you prefer take the Pemberton tram and meander through some of the tallest trees in the world. Natural fresh waterways and lakes are prevalent in the region, so why not pick up some local wine and produce to enjoy a picnic.

DAY 04: Pemberton to Albany (240 km) Visit timber and art galleries in Pemberton and then make your way to Albany via Northcliffe and Walpole. Stop off at Northcliffe’s famous forest sculpture walk. Visit the Giant Tingle Tree and see the only place in WA where the Forest meets the water. Continue your journey and take a stroll along the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk (at own expense). Don’t miss the Elephant Rocks and Greens Pool near Denmark. Continue onto Albany which overlooks Princess Royal Harbour and many elevated vantage points around the town provide spectacular views.

DAY 05: Albany It’s time to take a break and explore Albany today. Walk the Amity Trail and take in a visit to Whale World, the only whaling museum created from an operational whaling station. DAY 06: Albany to Perth(420km) Depart for Perth today taking the Albany Highway. North of Albany you may wish to visit the Stirling Range National Park – the only Alpine area in Western Australia. MONKEY MIA, KALBARRI & THE PINNACLES – PERTH – PERTH(P06) DURATION : 7 DAYS

DAY 01: Perth to Geraldton (417 km) Begin your journey with an early morning start to reach the historic twin towns of Dongara and Port Denison, located 360 kilometres north of Perth. Spend some time exploring these historic coastal villages or for a nature walk, stop at the Greenough River Nature Trail located about 20 minutes south of Geraldton in the town of Greenough. Geraldton is the main port and administration centre of the mid west region. Geraldton and the surrounding districts are noted for the beautiful wild spring flowers and the countryside.

DAY 02: Geraldton to Monkey Mia (432 km) Today’s drive continues to take you north on the North West Coastal Highway to Monkey Mia and the Shark Bay World Heritage Area. As you approach Shark Bay visit the living marine stromatolites at Hamelin Pool. We suggest you also make a stop at the stunning 110 kilometre Shell Beach – a beach made up of billions of tiny white shells. Further on enjoy the breathtaking views from Eagle Bluff. From the town of Denham it is 27 kilometres north-east by sealed road to Monkey Mia.

DAY 03: Monkey Mia Enjoy a day of rest, to relax and experience this beautiful area. Visit the dolphins or just relax on the fantastic beaches. There are also boat tours which leave Monkey Mia to view the dugongs or ‘sea cows’ which graze among the seagrass beds.

DAY 04: Monkey Mia to Kalbarri (390 km) The journey south begins today, but there is still plenty to see and do on the journey back to Perth over the coming days. With its pristine beaches and towering coastal cliffs, Kalbarri is the ideal place for the nature lover. Kalbarri is situated along the winding banks of the Murchison River and adjacent to the Kalbarri National Park.

DAY 05: Kalbarri Today is free to explore Kalbarri and the surrounding area. The Murchison River carves through the rugged gorges of the National Park, providing excellent bushwalks and scenic outlooks.

DAY 06: Kalbarri to Cervantes (378 km) Make your way further south today to the town of Cervantes and the Nambung National Park. If you wish, stop off at Jurian Bay, for pristine white sands and enticing clear waters. The Nambung National Park, which includes the Pinnacles is located just 17 kilometres south of Cervantes. Spend the rest of the day exploring the amazing Pinnacle rock formations.
