    Tourist Places in and around Dhanbad Dhanbad the coal capital of India lies at the western part of Eastern Indian Shield, the Dhanbad district is ornamented by several tourist spots, namely Parasnath Hill, Parasnath Temple, Topchanchi, famous Jharia coalfields, to mention a few. Other important places are Bodh Gaya, Maithon Dam, and this town is only at 260 km distance by rail route from Kolkata. Bodh Gaya Lying at 220 km distance from Dhanbad. Bodh Gaya is the place where Gautam Buddha attained unsurpassed, supreme Enlightenment. It is a place which should be visited or seen by a person of devotion and which would cause awareness and apprehension of the nature of impermanence. About 250 years after the Enlightenment, the Buddhist Emperor, Ashoka visited the site of pilgrimage and established the Mahabodhi temple. Parasnath Temple The Parasnath Temple is considered to be one of the most important and sanctified holy places of the Jains. Baidyanath Temple Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, also known as Baba dham and Baidyanath dham is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the most sacred abodes of Shiva. It is located in Deoghar at a distance of 134 km from Dhanbad. It is a temple complex consisting of the main temple of Baba Baidyanath, where the Jyotirlinga is installed, and 21 other temples. Maithon Dam Maithon is 52 km from Dhanbad. This is the biggest reservoir in the Damodar Valley. This dam, designed for flood control, has been built on Barakar river.

In Hindu Mythology, it is believed that Jyotirlinga means "The Radiant symbol of the Almighty", so it is the resplendent flame of the almighty solidified to make the worship of it simple. There are a total of 64 Jyotirlingas that are well spread around the landscape of India. However, 12 Jyotirlingas are presumed to be very auspicious and highly revered among them. These jyotirlingas are positioned in eight states of India, likes of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. As per the Hindu mythologies, visiting Jyotirlingas is an important pilgrimage that wades off all the sins and makes the soul sacrosanct and pure. The devotees visiting these Jyotirlingas become chaste, pure and calm. After visiting these Jyotirlingas, devotees turn home with illuminated and enlightened with highest and divine knowledge.     1 In Pursuit of Shiva “This place is not meant for people.” Men who lived and worked in Kedarnath would often express this sentiment to me. I would remember these words at odd moments when, during my time in Kedarnath, the remoteness of the place would suddenly strike me. These moments often happened when I was waiting in line to enter the temple. In the years just before the floods, it was sometimes neces- sary in the morning to wait for several hours in line for the chance to enter the temple and come face to face with the self-manifest rock form of Shiva around which the temple had somehow been built out of massive stone blocks high up in the Himalaya. This time spent waiting in line was many things: a chance to talk to yatris, the opportunity to observe the spectacle of pilgrimage tourism from a ringside seat, an embodied push for me and my cold feet to think about why I had come to this place and what I was trying to do. Once while in line I remember looking into one of the shops that surrounded the temple on three sides and seeing that a film was playing on a small television. On the screen, hanging above a counter full of metal trays containing materials (Hindi: prasad) that would be used in ritual worship (Hindi: puja) in the temple, next to a few benches where one could sit and take chai and biscuits, I saw the Pandava princes and their wife Draupadi making their way up into the Himalaya, struggling along on their famous ascent to heaven.

We have by way of a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court (WP(C) 619 of 2020, which was filed earlier but notice was issued later vide order of the Supreme Court dated March 26, 2021), challenged Sections 3 and 4 of the Places of Worship Act, 1991 being unconstitutional, void ab initio, and against the Basic Structure of the Constitution of India. Mr. Dave has relied mainly on the Supreme Court’s observation in the Ram Janmabhoomi Case of November 9, 2019 (M. Siddiq vs. Mahant Suresh Das) with respect to the Places of Worship Act, 1991. However, there was no application of the provisions of the Places of Worship Act, 1991 to the case (Shri Ram Janmabhoomi dispute). Section 5 of the Places of Worship Act, 1991 clearly states that nothing in the Act shall apply to any suit, appeal or other proceedings relating to the said place or place of worship, i.e. the Ram- Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid situated in Ayodhya, in the State of Uttar Pradesh. Thereby, the 2019 judgment of the Supreme Court’s (Shri Ram Janmabhoomi dispute (2020 1 SCC 1)) observation(s) with respect to the Places of Worship Act, 1991 lacks any precedential value.
