He needed just 82 pitches (49 strikes) to get through the outing. Richards is the first Marlins rookie starter to work 7.0+ innings and allow two-or-fewer hits since Justin Nicolino on Sept. 26, 2015 vs. Atlanta (7.0 ip, 2 h). He is the 15th rookie in Club history to do so (22nd time). It was Miami’s longest scoreless start since Dillon Peters completed 7.0 frames on September 1, 2017 vs. Philadelphia, his MLB debut. Miami starting pitchers have allowed three-or-fewer runs in seven of the last eight games, and five straight. During the five-game streak, they have gone 1-1 with a 3.09 ERA (32.0 ip/11 er), and the team is 2-4. Miguel Rojas extended his season-long hitting streak to seven games (.357/10x28); it is one game shy of tying his career-best streak, which he has achieved twice (last, September 10-23, 2017). This was Miami’s 41st 1-0 loss in Club history, the first since July 3, 2017 vs. Washington, the second ever against Pittsburgh (also, September 14, 1993 at home, in a 6.0-inning game). Pirates Notes: Corey Dickerson extended his hitting streak to nine games; he is batting .444 (16x36) with seven doubles, a triple, a home run, and nine RBI during the streak. He had a seven-game extra-base hit streak snapped. Dickerson extended the streak with a bunt-single in the ninth, driving in the game-winning run. It was his third go-ahead and second game-winning RBI of the season. Pittsburgh entered the game with no bunt hits on the season. Starling Marte opened the ninth-inning rally with a bunt single, two batters before Dickerson added his own. Jameson Taillon tossed 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and three walks, with two strikeouts. He threw 93 pitches (58 strikes), and Miami was 0x5 with runners in scoring position against him. It was his second consecutive scoreless start, coming on the heels of his first career shutout on April 8 vs. Cincinnati. As the announcement came shortly after 11:30 a.m. MT, the scoreboard showed a temperature of 37 degrees. Intermittent light snow had fallen. Scheduled game time was 1:10 p.m. No makeup announcement was immediately made. The postponement comes at a good time for the Rockies. Manager Walt Weiss made his lineup card with a planned day off for rookie shortstop Trevor Story -- his second in three days. He also wanted to give right fielder Carlos Gonzalez, who has started every game, off Friday at Arizona. The Rockies have lost five straight, including six of the last seven. They went 1-5 on the just-completed homestand, during which their starters compiled a 9.72 ERA. They overcame a six-run deficit Sunday against the Dodgers and came back from seven runs down Wednesday against the Pirates, yet lost both contests. Additionally, the bullpen was fatigued because starters Jorge De La Rosa and Jon Gray went three innings and 3 2/3 frames, respectively, on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Rockies announced that they were pushing their rotation back for the three-game series at Arizona. Tyler Chatwood, Thursday's scheduled starter, will pitch Friday, followed by lefty Chris Rusin and righty Chad Bettis. The club has not named its starter for Monday's opener at San Diego, but it could potentially be righty Eddie Butler, who was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and was used for 41 pitches in relief.
