And at Rovio Mobile they know that. The company has released Angry Birds for Windows 7 and Windows XP, and the long-awaited game is now available in the Intel AppUp center at a reduced price of $5. There is hardly anyone who hasn’t heard of Angry Birds for iPhone, Android and Symbian^3. The game is a hit among smartphone owners and was long- expected by PC users, also. The plot is simple: all users are to do is to shoot wingless birds at hostile pigs with a sling. The evil pigs are concealing the eggs stolen from the flock of the user’s birds, and that’s the reason of their being furious. The birds are simply stylized; the pigs are yet simpler-looking and, wait a minute, green, but the battlefields collapse in such a fun way that the overall comical impression gets you addicted to the gameplay. You don’t just throw the birds around, you have to set a proper trajectory to get those pigs, and it gets harder and harder to do. Pigs tend to hide in gradually more secure places that are hard to ruin, like wood, ice or stone. The birds, however, vary as you proceed to the subsequent levels, kind of evolving and producing explosive eggs and such. The iOS version of the game was purchased over 12 million times from Apple’s App Store, which made Rovio Mobile develop the game for other mobile platforms and even release a version for PlayStation 3. And now PC users have their chance to fight for the bird justice, too. Windows 7 and Windows XP users can purchase the game from the Intel AppUp center for the reduced $5 or for the full $10, if unlucky. Speaking of which, unlucky are Mac OS X users who still have to wait for further application development (www.intellectsoft.net) for the game to be released for their operating system. The Windows version of the game runs smoothly in a full-screen HD mode with a 1680x1050 pixel resolution and boasts as many as 195 additional levels. The producers of Angry Birds promise to provide players with the same frequency free updates as iOS users enjoyed. Thus another wave of downloads, reception analysis and investments is soon to come. Playing business becomes gaming business. It is nice to know that game producers care. It’s all about revenue, obviously, but they realize that gamers are mature, that gamers are geeky, and that gamers are appreciative.
