PRE-MATCH REPORT ENGLAND vs WALES GUINNESS SIX NATIONS 2020 HEAD TO HEAD - Of the 20 Guinness Six Nations meetings between the sides, England have won 13 games while Wales have won just seven times. - The sides’ last Guinness Six Nations meeting was in Cardiff in February 2019, where Wales ended England’s five-game winning streak thanks to a 21-13 victory over Eddie Jones’ side. - Six of Wales’ seven victories over England in the Guinness Six Nations have been by a winning margin of a converted try or more. The only Welsh win over England in the competition to have been by fewer than seven points was in February 2005 (Eng- land 9-11 Wales). - Wales’ last Guinness Six Nations trip to Twickenham produced just six Welsh points – which was both the lowest Welsh return in a game against England in the competition and the total lowest points scored between the sides in Guinness Six Nations history (18). - In the four games in which England and Wales have faced off in Round 4 of the Guinness Six Nations, England have won all four matches by an aggregate score of 135-70. COMMON STATISTICS - Wales lead the Guinness Six Nations in terms of opposition 22 entries per game. Their 9.7 visits per match is the highest mark, 1.7 more visits more than the third-ranking English tally of 8.0. - The Welsh pack manage to produce 2.41 points per opposition 22 entry compared to England’s 2.00 - with Wales finding points in 41.4% of their trips inside their opponent’s 22.     UNITED AGAINST RACISM The SSA and Saracens are of course committed to tackling the issues of racial inequality prejudice and underrepresentation within society and specifically within the rugby community. We have all seen in the press both sports and mainstream the way players coaches and staff have come together on this matter and the SSA wanted to reiterate our support for the cause. We want to continue to celebrate our diverse and multicultural family whilst providing a platform to speak openly and honestly about what change we want to see. We do not want to be silent or stagnant on this matter. We abhor any form of discrimination and indeed through the Saracens Sport Foundation we have a rich history of tackling social injustice and inequality through the power of sport. But we know we can do more to ensure we are seeing greater representation on and off the field within our game. From the owner, the board, the senior management, the staff and players at Saracens we stand united. Black lives matter. We have a great chance to send a powerful message and educate people more on what this really means. No one disputes that all lives matter, but we must accept that racial discrimination still exists and we must work towards a position where all lives are considered of equal value in society. We must not ignore the past three months and we will not sit on the fence when we have an opportunity to change perceptions. Racism isn’t just easily identifiable prejudice. It can be unwitting, unconscious and for those who don’t come up against it, one might never know it’s there, but we must not be blind to it.

Introduction In this project, I am going to either prove or disprove two hypotheses: • firstly, that the position of a rugby player will make a difference to what they think a great captain is; and • secondly, that for a captain to be great, they do not have to be the best in their position. I will prove or disprove these hypotheses through the following research: • conducting semi-quantitative surveys • reading and analysing 4 great rugby captains’ autobiographies (qualitative research) and their views on leadership and captaincy • and finally wider online research. Rugby is a sport and subject that I am very passionate about, and I aspire to play at the highest level. Currently I play for Hampton U13 Bs and my club (Twickenham) first team. I find captaincy interesting as I think it takes great skill and certain characteristics to be a good captain let alone a country-leading world-famous great captain. My personal experiences of rugby captaincy have been periodically with my school team and regularly for my club. My personal view of rugby captaincy based on my experiences is that you need to be the hardest-working player on the pitch at all times – you may not be the most skilled, but you can be the hardest-working, and respect from your team- mates and from your coaches comes from this work ethic.

The 56-year- old has saved countless careers including Van Dijk's current and former team-mates at Liverpool - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Ings - Newcastle's new £20 million signing Callum Wilson, whom he operated on four times, and England rugby wing Jonny May.
