I am so proud of the years, beers & tears that made this album come into existence. Ryan, my love. None of this would go without you meeting me in random countries, sneaking into my bunk and thoughtfully listening to these rough mixes on our back porch. You’re my touchstone and my equal, and I love your ear and guidance through everything. The Great Ones do... Mom, Dad & Karsen, thank you for coming to every show in Texas, taking turns as my guests at all the award shows and always loving me through the time and distance this chaos demands of your daughter and sister. Janet and Peter, I couldn’t have gotten through this album cycle without you talking me off the ledge (sensitively, haha) and celebrating every tiny and massive win along the way these last few years. To Randy Goodman, Rob Stringer, Ken Robold, Steve Hodges, Shane Allen, Taylor Lindsey, Jim Catino and everyone at my Sony and Columbia family, you have given me my first number 1, double platinum, plus the trust & guidance to give me the last few years of space to make this album. I can’t tell you how much that means to me as your artist. Darin Murphy, Meredith Jones and CAA, I have crossed so many things off my dream board after the shows I’ve gotten to play because of you. From headlining my own tour to building this new one, I can’t wait to see the capacities grow with you guys! Coran Capshaw and my Red Light team, thank you. Kris Wiatr, Scott Safford and Dave Lande, thanks for keeping me in the green and out of jail. :) Carla Wallace, Kerry O’Neil and Big Yellow Dog, I will never forget my first publishing deal. I have felt so taken care of and I appreciate you housing these song babies of mine so well. My band + crew, I thank you for breathing life into my music in these last 3 years of shows. From parking lot “festivals” to Madison Square Garden, we’ve laughed our asses off along the way. I love you guys. Matt Payne, thank you for always keeping every performance so engaging, fun & emotional. Glad to build this tour with you. Alex Ferrari, you are such a relaxing force to have around us every day. Thankful for your eye. Busbee, Greg Kurstin, and Dave Clauss, words cannot measure the amount of love and respect I have for your talent, patience and creativity on this album. For a sophomore effort to feel so cohesive, alive and elevated is a true testament to your genius. To the musicians and writers who crafted this record with me, I am in awe of you every day and am lucky to call you my friends. Y’all really went there, didn’t you? To Brandi Carlile and Brothers Osborne, thank you for lending your voices and musicianship to this album. Other than loving the shit out of you all, I’m a massive fan of what you do and what you use your platform for. To the artists who supported me by bringing me on the road or even came to shows and gave spiritual guidance, Keith Urban, Sam Hunt, Niall Horan, Chris and Morgane Stapleton, Zedd, Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow, Elton John, Taylor Swift, thank you all so much. To my fans, we’ve really gone through it these last few years. I never thought I would feel close to this many people, but I truly do. Through shadows and spotlight, I have been inspired by your admiration and honesty. I made this album with the intention of playing it for you intimately and loudly. I hope you see a sliver of yourself in these songs. I love you all so much. Whatever you’ve endured, the triumphant, the ugly, I hope this collection of songs makes you happy. If you cry to it, laugh to it, or Hell, just make out to it, then I’ll have done my job.
