Limno-Tech, Inc. UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTEOION AGENCY REGION 5 n WEST JACKSON BOULEVARD CHICAGO, IL g0604-3590 REPLY TOTHE A7TEWMOF: Ms. Marcia T. Willhite EPA Bureau of Water 102 1 Nonh Grand Avenue East Springfield, IL 62794-9276 Dear Ms. Willhite: The United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has reviewed the final Total Maximum Daily Loads {TMDLq) submittal for the North Kaskackia River Watershed, including supporting documentation and follow up information. E?A7s TMDLs address two stream segments IL OKA 0 1 and IL OKA 02, impaired for aquatic life use and primary contact recreational use. Based on this review, U.S. EPA has determined that Illinois' TMDh for pH, manganese, iron, and fecal coliform meets the requirements of Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act (CWA) and U.S. EPA's irnplerncnting regulations at 40 C.F.R. Part 130. Therefore, U.S. EPA hereby approves Illinois' seven TMBLs for the North Fork Kaskaskia River Watershed. The statutory and regzslatory requirements, and U.S. EPA's review of fllinois' compliance with cach requirement, are described in the enclosed decision document. The segments are also impaired by phosphorus and low dissolved oxygen but these causes are not addressed at this time. We wish to acknowledge Illinois' effort in these submitted TMDLs, and look forward to future TMDL submissions by the State of Illinois. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Kevin Pierard, Chief of the Watersheds and Wetlands Branch at 3 12-886- 4448. Sincerely yours, Jo Lynn Trrmb / Director.
