Process of Selecting a Minimum Core

• Tier 1- These indicators are conceptually clear, with established methodology and standards available and data are regularly produced by countries. • Tier 2- These indicators are conceptually clear, with established methodology and standards available but data are not regularly produced by countries. • Tier 3- There are no established methodology and standards, or methodology/standards were being developed/tested for these indicators.

Criteria for Selecting as part of Minimum Core

• Was it a national priority? • Was it an indicator in the SAMOA Pathway? • Was it included in the CMDGs?

The question of whether or not the data was currently available in the national statistical system was not a deciding factor.
