    HARDMEAD AND ITS DESERTED VILLAGE PAUL S. H. SMITH The results of a survey and watching brief at the deserted medieval village of Hardmead are evaluated in the context of additional archaeological and historical evidence assembled during a subsequent parish survey. There are indications that Roman land use may have influenced later colonization patterns, which did not peak until the thirteenth century. Documentary sources show that enclosure, followed by local and national socio-economic trends producing long-term pauperism and housing problems, led to the depopulation of the medieval village in the mid-nineteenth century. Appendix 5 – Risk Assessments, summer sessions P a g e 1 | 54 1 Ownership The Olney Runners Covid-19 Coordinator is Roger Mann, and this document has been produced by Roger and other members of the OR Committee. 2 Risk Assessments and other details of running sites 2a Wednesdays • All 5 senior OR groups will run on Wednesdays at 7pm. • They will not gather one place but keep a max group size at all times – which will be kept under review. - Winter sites can accommodate a maximum of 12 runners + up to two Run Leaders. - As of May 2021, summer sites can accommodate a maximum of 15 runners + up to two Run Leaders. • There are 5 sites for the 5 groups on a weekly rota. • Sites are carefully defined below - with clear boundaries, each with its own RA, and no runners to be taken outside these areas during sessions. • Runners meet at meeting places at each site – identified below. • They will maintain full 2m distancing as described in the Guidance for Members, and for Run Leaders. • All sites have low public use, wide paths, space to step off onto grass/roadside easily to avoid people, and no blind corners.

    CONSERVATION & ARCHAEOLOGY IN MILTON KEYNES: BUCKINGHAMSHIRE HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT FORUM, March 5th 2018 DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT The Conservation & Archaeology Team received 1153 planning consultations during 2017, 614 of which were for the Senior Archaeological Officer. FIELDWORK Thirty-three fieldwork projects were reported to the HER in 2017 (list attached). Projects comprised: 5 historic building records; 11 trial trench evaluations, 6 geophysical surveys; 1 excavation and 9 watching briefs. Highlights included: Albion Archaeology’s excavation close to the Grand Union canal at the east end of the Campbell Park grid square which revealed two 2-3rd century stone- built corn drying kilns with adjacent stone slabbed crop processing floors (malting floors?). 2nd-3rd Century AD Romano-British Corn Drying Kiln BUILDING CONSERVATION After a few years of listing related activity involving New Town structures and public art 2017 was a relative disappointment with no new listings of New Town structures, despite assessments being carried out of the modernist Cotton Valley sewage works and County Architects designed Summerfield School in Bradwell Common. Elsewhere in the borough there were additions to the list with the war memorials at Bow Brickhill, Chicheley (Sir Herbert Baker FRIBA RA) and New Bradwell Cemetery listed at Grade II. Finally, the much altered and extended Grade II listed Parkside Hotel (formerly Woughton House) and its former stables and coach house in Woughton –on-the-Green were removed from the list at the request of the sites owners. Consultants AFW Ltd, now trading as Wood Plc completed the first group of draft conservation area reviews in the autumn (Bradwell, Great Linford, Milton Keynes Village, Shenley Church End) alongside the overarching policy document.
