30 th Grasshopper Scout cum 77th Cub Scout Advanced Course

The captioned course will be held by Training Branch from September to November 2014 and Mr TAM Chiu-hung Ivan, Leader Trainer will be the Course Leader. After completing the course, candidates should be able to: 1. state what leaders should strive for the aims of the Association; 2. list the needs and the characteristics of 5-12 years old teenagers. And, d escribe how to make use of the sectional training programmes to cope with group members’ needs in accordance with their personal development; 3. state how to assist group members in establishing their value system; 4. describe and identify the roles of leaders and leadership styles; 5. collaborate with group members, leaders and other stakeholders to plan for an attractive, enjoyable and meaningful programme; 6. establish and maintain positive relationships with unit members and adults; 7. establish and maintain positive relationships with patrols, the Group and other stakeholders; 8. state the organization of the Association and explain how its functions support leaders in executing their duties; 9. state how to acquire resources and support from the community so that contributions and services can be made in return; 10. state their competence of administrative supervision; and

11. identify further development and support needs. Details of the course are as follows:

1. 2. Medium of instruction: 3. Eligibility: Leaders who hold: (a) a valid Warrant of Grasshopper Scout or Cub Scout Section; and (b) the following Certificates: i. Grasshopper Scout or Cub Scout Intermediate Course and the relevant 3-month In-service Training; or ii. Grasshopper Scout or Cub Scout Sectional Skills Course and the Basic In-service Training. 4. Course Fee: (a) Leaders who hold a valid Warrant (Recipients of Subsidy Scheme for Scout Training): $325 (b) Lay members who hold a valid Appointment (Non-recipients of Subsidy Scheme for Scout Training): $650 Course fee covers course materials, meals, refreshment and accommodations. Fees should be made payable by crossed cheque to the “Scout Association of Hong Kong”. 5. Application: Please fill out the Application Form PT/02e, which can be downloaded a t http://www.scout.org.hk/en/download/training/ , and send it by mail or by hand to the Training Branch, Room 908, 9/F, Hong Kong Scout Centre, Scout Path, Austin Road, together with the course fees and copies of the above-mentioned warrant and certificate on or before deadline. Incomplete form or copies of the prescribed certificates may affect the application result. 6. Deadline: 22 August 2014 (Friday) 7. Others: (a) Applicants will be informed in writing of the application result. (b) Participants should attend all sessions of the course on time. Certificates will only be issued to candidates who complete all requirements of the course. (c) During the course, participants should be dress ed in Scout uniform or other attire assigned by the Course Leader. This training course is subsidized by the ‘‘Subsidy Scheme for Scout Training’’ so participants only need to pay 50% of the fee.
