The decade 2000 to 2009 was an exciting one at Proflight as it saw the arrival of our first turboprop - the Jetstream 32 9J-PCS - which was ferried from Nashville, Tennessee to Lusaka, the start of our Copperbelt and Solwezi schedule flights, the introduction of e-ticketing and our participation in the GDS (Global Distribution System) and IATA BSP (Billing and Settlement Plan) and we flew our very first elephant, Zama. The decade 2010 to 2019 was equally as exciting with the introduction of the larger Jetstream 41 aircraft, the start of online bookings and acceptance of card and Pay Pal payments, the acquisition of our first Captain Preller Kopolo ‘Jubilee’ jet - the CRJ, the issuing of our first AOC (Aircraft Operators Certificate) and we flew another three elephants and a hippo! Proflight Zambia has been operating for 29 years and in the last two decades we have seen our staff numbers increase from under 20 to above 200 and we have introduced schedule flights to four regional destinations and twelve domestic destinations, of which we still fly to a total of 12 (three regional and nine domestic). Proflight has introduced four new aircraft types onto the Zambian register; the Jetstream 32, the Jetstream 41, the Bombardier CRJ 100, and the Bombardier Dash 8 Q300. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved and the above is just a snapshot of how far we have come. As we look to the decade ahead we are confident that we have the foundations to continue operating a sustainable and viable airline in Zambia and we intend to continue expanding our foot print across the country and the region. Without our customers, our agents, our suppliers and our employees this journey would not have been possible so we thank you for your support and ask that you continue to choose Proflight, choose Zambian and explore with us. Explore the Northern Province through the pages of this edition of Nkwazi. We take you on a journey exploring the nature, history and culture of the region. Also explore Lusaka through two of our feature stories, one on the Lusaka Collective and another offering recommendations for how to spend your layover in Lusaka. We also take you on a journey through the hiking trails of Joburg and the Drakensberg Mountains. Additionally we tell the stories of Zambian trailblazers in art, literature and music, making their mark at home and abroad.
