Resolution No. 06-18

RECOGNIZING THE MONTH OF MARCH AS NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINING MONTH

WHEREAS, certified athletic trainers have a long history of providing quality health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity based on specific tasks, knowledge, and skills acquired through their nationally regulated educational processes; and

WHEREAS, celiified athletic trainers provide services that include education and guidance for the prevention of injuries; recognition and evaluation of injuries along with aggressive treatment when necessary; rehabilitation; and health care administration; and

WHEREAS, the National Athletic Trainers' Association represents and supports 30,000 members of the athletic training profession; and

WHEREAS, athletic trainers are employed in the following settings: professional sports, colleges and universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals, corporate and industrial settings, and military branches; and

WHEREAS, leading organizations concerned with athletic training and health care have joined together in a common desire to raise public awareness of the athletic training profession, and the importance of quality health care; and

WHEREAS, such an effort will improve health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity, and promote certified athletic trainers as allied health professionals; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the County ofMaui:

1. That it hereby recognizes the month of March as National Athletic Training Month; and Resolution No. ----=-=--=-==---06-18

That certified copies of this resolution be transmitted to certified athletic trainers Scott Pagdilao, Baldwin High School; Randy Bisnett, Baldwin High School; Sky Pierce, Hana High & Elementary School; Heather Mock, Seabury Hall; Chris Pagdilao, Maui High School; Jon Lazo, King Kekaulike High School; Jon Conrad, Lahainaluna High School; Alicia Gohn, Lanai High & Elementary School; Torno Fujitani, Molokai High & Intermediate School; Erin Harkleroad, St. Anthony Junior Senior High School; Alika Asing, Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus; and Charles Roggow, Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus.
