Resolution No. 06-18 RECOGNIZING THE MONTH OF MARCH AS NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINING MONTH WHEREAS, certified athletic trainers have a long history of providing quality health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity based on specific tasks, knowledge, and skills acquired through their nationally regulated educational processes; and WHEREAS, celiified athletic trainers provide services that include education and guidance for the prevention of injuries; recognition and evaluation of injuries along with aggressive treatment when necessary; rehabilitation; and health care administration; and WHEREAS, the National Athletic Trainers' Association represents and supports 30,000 members of the athletic training profession; and WHEREAS, athletic trainers are employed in the following settings: professional sports, colleges and universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals, corporate and industrial settings, and military branches; and WHEREAS, leading organizations concerned with athletic training and health care have joined together in a common desire to raise public awareness of the athletic training profession, and the importance of quality health care; and WHEREAS, such an effort will improve health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity, and promote certified athletic trainers as allied health professionals; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the County ofMaui: 1.
