1. Define the term Input device. Name any two. Ans: The devices through which we enter data and instructions are called Input Devices. Two Input Devices are: 1) Keyboard 2) Mouse 2. What is a printer? Name the types of printers. Ans: Printer is an output device. It is used to print the result on the paper. Types of printers are: 1) Impact (Dot Matrix printer) 2) Non-Impact (Inkjet printer) 3. What is the use of Light pen? Ans: A Light pen is pen like pointing device which is used to select objects on the display screen. It works only with CRT monitors. It is used by Engineers, Fashion designers or Architects. 4. What is the use of CPU? Name its parts. Ans: CPU is the brain of a computer that processes and stores information, performs calculations, and sends the result to the output devices. The CPU has mainly three parts: 1) MU (Memory Unit) 2) ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) 3) CU (Control Unit) 5. Differentiate between hard copy and soft copy. Ans: Difference between hard copy and soft copy: Hard copy Soft copy The output that we get on the paper is called The output that we get on a monitor is called Hard copy. Soft copy.
6. What do you understand by a monitor? Name the types of Monitors. Ans: Monitor is an output device which looks like a television. It is used to display the work done within the computer. Types of Monitors: 1) CRT 2) LCD 3) LED 7. Briefly explain the use of following devices. a) Microphone: A Microphone is an input device, which is used to record voice, music and sound into the computer system. Recording is enabled through sound cards. b) Digital Camera: A Digital Camera is used to take photographs and record videos. The photographs and videos recorded are stored in a memory chip inside the camera.
