Terry, Vice Chair technical college, the military, or straight into the workforce. Kathy Curatolo, Member Erika Donalds, Member This year, we were recognized as an “A” rated school district. This was a great Kelly Lichter, Member accomplishment considering the 2014-15 school year was the first to include the Florida Standards Assessment in the District’s grade. Even more impressive, 11 of our schools increased their school grade from the previous year. In a time when changes were being made at the state level, our schools continued to achieve. I am so CCPS Proud! www.collierschools.com Speaking of proud, the District received a huge honor from our Collier County Commissioners this year. In a proclamation, they declared April 26th as CCPS Proud Day in recognition of the District’s “A” rating. We also had the opportunity to give community leaders an inside look at our schools this year during our CCPS Proud Tours. The first two tours had guests visiting Lake Park Elementary, Lely High School, and Lorenzo Walker Technical College. The next tour visited Immokalee and stopped at Village Oaks 5775 Osceola Trail Elementary, Immokalee High School, and Immokalee Technical College. Guests participated in Naples, Florida 34109 curriculum-based activities with students and toured the schools. My favorite part was trying out the flight simulators in Lely’s Academy of Aerospace and Aviation Technology—what an experience! In an effort to provide additional academic challenges for students, we have increased the number p: 239.377.0001 of academic competitions throughout all grade levels. In May, more than 400 students participated f: 239.377.0181 in the first-ever Elementary Math Challenge. The annual iSTEM Competition continues to expand as well. In its third year, the competition added a new VEX Robotics event and was broadcast LIVE on the Education Channel, online, and on social media. We also saw the growth of the Entrepreneurship Program. Students spent the year developing products and business ideas, worked with mentors to perfect their plans, and competed at the school level. Then, the top two winners from each school [email protected] competed at the districtwide competition at Hodges University. In an effort to continue expanding the ways we communicate with parents, this year we rolled out Twitter pages for all 50 The Education Channel of our schools with Facebook pages coming soon.
