Brief Industrial Profile of District Kanpur Dehat

1. General Characteristics of the District

Kanpur Dehat is a district of Uttar Pradesh. This district was formed on 23 rd April, 1981 from Kanpur known as Kanpur Dehat. It comes under Kanpur Mandal. District has 05 industrial areas like Rania, Jainpur, , and . Mainly agriculture dominated city and main crops are potato, oil seeds, paddy, sugarcane, wheat and pulses.

1.1 Location & Geographical Area

Kanpur Dehat district is located in western part of Uttar Pradesh. Total area of Kanpur Dehat is 3021 sq. kms. The latitude of Kanpur Dehat is 25 0-26’ to 26 0-58’ north and longitude of Kanpur Dehat is 790-43’ to 80 0-34’ East. It is surrounded by Kanpur Nagar, , Hamirpur, district. The headquarter of Kanpur Dehat district is at Mati on Kanpur – Highway No.25.

1.2 Topography The topography of Kanpur Dehat district comprises of two type of soil smooth & domat. Entire district has plain land and flow of water north west to south-east. The main rivers of district are Yamuna, Pandu and Rindh.

1.3 Availability of Minerals.

There are no minerals available in district Kanpur Dehat except morang (sand) which is extracted from Yamuna River and being used as building material and road construction etc.

1.4 Forest In Kanpur Dehat district the forest area is 5796 hectares. Net area sowed 219823 hectares, Area under bush, forest and garden is 2696 hectares. Trees like Mango, Neem, Jamun, Mahuva, Lemon, Guava, Bamboo, Aonla, Pipal, Baniyan, Arjun etc are available in the forest area of the district.

1.5 Administrative set up Kanpur Dehat district administration administrate 6 Tehsils, 10 Blocks, 06 Nagar Panchayats, 102 Gram Panchayats, 640 Gram Sabha, 01 Nagar Palika Parishad, and 15 Police Stations. Kanpur Dehat district comes under Kanpur Mandal.

Total 3,429 UAMs are filed up to 17.09.2018 in Kanpur Dehat Districts since inception, in which 28.40 % units are registered under manufacturing activity whereas 71.60 % units are registered under service activity. The data clearly shows that the service enterprises are rapidly increasing rather than manufacturing enterprises.

3.7 Vendorisation / Ancillarisation of the Industry

Total nos. of 146 MSMEs were motivated for vendorisation and ancillarisation through National Vendor Development Programme organised by this office at Kanpur and in 2017-18.

Total nos. of 1025 MSMEs were motivated for vendorisation and ancillarisation through State Vendor Development Programme organised across 25 Districts which come under the jurisdiction of this office in 2017-18.

3.9 One District One Product Scheme of Uttar Pradesh

State Government has come up with One District One Product Scheme of Uttar Pradesh 2018 which will boost economic development of the state, and also encourage youth in districts to find employment avenues without migrating to bigger cities. With scheme considering only on one product per district these districts will be able to specialize in the manufacturing process of the product which will eventually increase the quality of the products and they will be able to compete on the global scale.

The district Kanpur Dehat has been notified for “Aluminum Utensils” under ODOP Scheme of Uttar Pradesh.
