Email: [email protected] Website: www.kerrobertsk.com Phone: (306)834-2344 Office—Kerrobert Courthouse 433 Manitoba Ave News from the Mayor for June 2017

What a difference a month makes. Everything is green and flowers are in full bloom. Great job to Communities in Bloom and everyone for that matter with making their yards look so good.

Golfing has begun, kids will soon be splashing around in the swimming pool and base- ball is in full swing. This is definitely my favorite time of year.

Our outside staff will be very busy with grass cutting, tree trimming and as soon as we can get the pavement grinder from the R.M. of Oakdale, we will be tackling the streets as well. We won’t be able to do everything, but hopefully we can get to some of the worse areas such as Bosworth Street in front of the Arena and heading up the hill. There are more than a few of those types of clusters throughout town that we want to get done as soon as possible. We were also saddled with a couple of water line bursts during line flushing. We still have several water lines that are in very brittle condition and we are hopeful to get back to a program where we can be replacing these lines. We will likely be starting this year on Bulling Street between and Manitoba Avenue. This line has had several breaks in the last few years and is a great candidate to start with.

I got to meet with the Grade 12 class and the exchange kids from Montreal. We enjoyed a BBQ then they went on to tour the Court House / Town Offices, of course with the tales of ghosts inhabiting the building to add to the history of such a great building. Bev and Candice Kraft along with our Grade 12 students showed the Montreal kids a great time. Certainly a much different lifestyle than what they are accustomed to back in the big city of Montreal. Con’t next page

News from the Mayor for June 2017 I would like to thank Kerri Seffern, Ashton Tetzlaff and Fred Arnott from the Prairie- land Players and also Kara-Lee Sieben, Colleen Mock and Jaxon Mock for helping out with the BBQ. Very much appreciated.

I would also like to thank Rachael Dunn and about 20 of the high school kids for plant- ing willow trees around the landfill and up the road to the rail tracks. These will pri- marily act as a barrier to catch garbage from blowing into the surrounding fields but will also make the place look better especially once it becomes a transfer site. We still don’t know exactly when that will be.

The Prairie Moon development on the East side of town is coming along great. The crews are working fast and it is still my understanding that the new businesses will be up and operational by the fall. We also have other developers wanting to do business with us. We are currently in ongoing discussions as these things sometimes take time, but we are working hard to keep the process moving forward.

Until next month, keep up the great work as the town is looking better each and every day.

Mayor Wayne Mock

The Kerrobert Chamber of Commerce and the Mainstreet Committee will be hosting a downtown face lift party on June 14th and 15th

from 8:00 am –12:00 pm and from 4:00 pm — 8:00 pm each day.

Our goal is to put some lipstick and maybe a bit of blush on the old aban- doned, town owned buildings on main street.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
