HKSAR 20th Anniversary Forum on Law and Politics Friday, 21 April 2017

CMA Australia was one of the supporting organization for the HKSAR 20th Anniversary Forum on Law and Politics organized by CA Legal Exchange Foundation. The Octs Youth Forum invited Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration and Mr. Wang Zhenmin, the Director-General of the Department of Law of Liaison Office of The Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R. as officiating guest. The forum provided opportunities for young Chinese academics/scholars to exchange their opinions with various political parties in Hong Kong.

CMA 20th Anniversary Yearbook April 2017

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of ICMA’s incorporation in Australia, the ICMA has launched a 20th Anniversary Yearbook, with articles such as: “The History of the Management Accounting Profession in Australia”; “The ICMA: 20 Years of Achievement” and “Foundation President’s Reminiscences”. The history of all the Regional Offices will also be outlined in the yearbook. This will serve as an important historical document for future researchers. CMA Hong Kong Branch was assigned as the distribution center for CMA’s 20th Anniversary Yearbook.

ICAC International Seminar on Financial Investigation Tuesday, 9 May 2017

The ICAC of HKSAR hosted the International Seminar on Financial Investigation on 9 and 10 May 2017 at the ICAC Building, North Point. This two-day seminar, featured 5 keynote speakers and 11 speakers and workshop moderators from around the world. Speakers shared their expertise in topics of financial investigation and asset recovery. The seminar attracted around 240 participants from anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies, justice departments, regulatory bodies, international organizations, and the accounting and legal professions and from 41 jurisdictions and 100 organizations.

CPD Seminar – The Hong Kong Metro System of the Past, Present and Future Thursday, 25 May 2017

This CPD Seminar was organized by Curtin University’s Alumni Association, sponsored by MTR Corporation and supported by CMA Australia & IPA. Over the past three decades, the MTR has had a profound effect on Hong Kong’s evolution from a seemingly unremarkable city into a modern metropolis. With a patronage of over 5 million passengers per day, the MTR plays a far bigger role in Hong Kong society than as a mere transport entity. MTR stations have become a focal point of the community, as convenient gathering points for shopping and cultural activities, such as station art exhibitions.

The seminar covered the following topics:

1. History of the MTR 2. Challenges and innovations of the project implementation 3. Current major projects being undertaken by MTR 4. The Government’s Railway Development Strategy (RDS) 2014 and a series of future city-shaping projects

Events in June

The Business Accounting Management Case Competition of mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Universities 2017 Saturday, 3 June 2017

The Business Accounting Management Case Competition among China Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Universities 2017 was held in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 3 June 2017. The topic of the case study was related to how to improve the sales performance of LETV (LESHI INTERNET INFORMATION & TECHNOLOGY CORP) in . A total of nineteen teams from the universities in four different places participated in this competition, including 8 teams from mainland China, 3 teams from Hong Kong, 2 teams from Macau and 6 teams from Taiwan. There were five CMA members to be invited together to form a judging panel.

Qianhai Study Tour Friday to Saturday, 16 -17 June 2017

The two-day study tour to Shenzhen Qianhai was held on 16 -17 June 2017. This trip was jointly organized by The Hong Kong Association of Financial Advisors Limited, CMA Australia, Society of Registered Financial Planners, IPA Australia and Curtin University Alumni Association of Hong Kong. It attracted more than 40 participants.
