Snyder Collection

Provenance Notes Accession: 2012.067. Items 2012.067.001-.018 are military artifacts/textiles. This collection was donated by Roberta Snyder. She requests that no items are discarded without contacting her for first refusal and if at any time she requires scanned copies of the donated photographs, we will provide them.

History Notes This collection was donated in 2012 by Roberta Snyder. The collection consists of memorabilia from both her father, Robert Wayne Snyder, who served in WWII, and her grandfather, Edgar Grove Snyder, who served in WWI. Both men lived in Butler. Roberta desired these items be returned to Butler for genealogists and military enthusiasts; she hopes the collection will be used by researchers.

Scope Notes Included in the collection are Robert’s Navy uniform, Edgar’s Lieutenant’s journal, pictures from both men, and baptismal and confirmation certificates for Edgar and his wife. Most of the photographs are identified. Other documents related to their lives and artifacts from their time in the service are also included.
