Terry Trickman [TM]: You first or JL: Well I got into video games back in 1981. I was working as an artist I was working at Triton College in River Grove and I got a call one day from a friend of mine, Richard Tracy, who I’ve known for a number of years socially. We played music together and he knew one of my hobbies was playing games war games, cards, and board games all kinds of stuff like that and he had recently taken a job at D. Gottlieb & Co. which was one of the three, four , five pinball companies in chicago. Chicago being the home of pinball and D. Gottlieb invented the flipper game back in the 30s and JM: It was mostly tilt before that right? JL: Yeah, I guess, I guess so that’s all they did All: [laughs] JL: Supposedly, supposedly, David Gottlieb or even probably one of his engineers invented the flipper then right and anyway the video game boom had commenced and a lot of the companies, Bally Midway, Williams, and Stern, had jumped on that bandwagon. -

Forthlane Fridays – Guest Bios Session 8: The Future of Sports David Beeston EVP & CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER, BOSTON RED SOX & FENWAY SPORTS MANAGEMENT Dave Beeston joined the Boston Red Sox & Fenway Sports Management in March of 2013 and was named Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer in February 2018. In his role, Beeston has varied responsibilities. He acts as a senior advisor to Sam Kennedy and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) ownership on key matters, including internal and external communication. In addition to the Boston Red Sox, FSG owns Liverpool F.C. Additionally, Dave is responsible for the execution and oversight of many of the key relationships of the Club, including with its media, concessions and merchandise partners. Finally, in his strategy role, he is charged with creating and executing new business initiatives and new lines of revenue for the Club and FSG, evaluating external opportunities presented to the Company, and acting as an internal resource for all Club departments, with a focus on long-term organizational objectives. Beeston spent the seven years prior to joining the Red Sox as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, with a focus on securities transactions. A Toronto, Ontario native, Beeston completed his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Western Ontario, graduating from the latter "with distinction." He formerly served on the Board of "Youth Without Shelter", a Toronto based teen homeless shelter, and currently serves on the Boston Medical Center's Exceptional Care Without Exception Trust Board. What does the international landscape for gaming look like? In its rather short span of existence, it has surpassed all other forms of entertainment in terms of revenues. It is getting increasingly influential in terms of socio- cultural impact. With increased access to better mobile devices acting as gaming platforms and cheaper internet, the once-neglected populace in India has become a lucrative market for large multinational corporations in the sector. This paper takes a look at some of the developments that establish video games as an important emerging medium of entertainment in India in the light of technological developments leading to cultural changes. Keywords: video games, entertainment media, culture, technology, media economy 1. Introduction The second half of the 20th century was marked by upheavals and disruptions, most prominent of them being technological along with economic and political. Working together, these have the capacity to alter society and culture significantly. This period saw the emergence and proliferation of a new medium of entertainment - a medium that was driven by the latest technology of the time and that went on to become a significant economic entity in a short duration - it was the video games. Video Games emerged in the early 1970s and within a short period became a huge influence on initially the American culture and subsequently most of the West. Of late, it has also made inroads in developing economies across the globe as a popular medium of entertainment. -

Following a slow start to the season at Major I, Toronto Ultra bounced back to win Major II and finish top three at Majors III, IV and V. The route to the Final saw Toronto Ultra eliminate OpTic Chicago, Minnesota RØKKR, and Dallas Empire followed by a final match against Atlanta FaZe, which resulted in a 5-3 win for last year's runner-up. In addition to team performance, the League gave individual recognition to Jamie "Insight" Craven, who made the Scuf Team of the Year and was nominated for Rookie of the Year, and Cameron "Cammy" McKilligan who was nominated for MVP. "I couldn't be prouder of how much the team evolved this year and the effort we put in until the very end of the final map," said Cameron "Cammy" McKilligan.
