Parole-chiave: Hymenoptera, Symphyta, Appennini, dati faunistici, Italia. ABST R ACT Sawflies and woodwasps (Hymenoptera Symphyta) of the northern Apennines: state of the art, new records, notes on biogeography and ecology. The issues of a long term study on sawfly fauna of the northern Apennines are presented. Materials have been obtained both by field work in the study area and surveys on collections. The checklist of the species, 360 in all, is given in a synoptic table of their presence / absence in the different sectors of northern Apennine. Five species are new to Italy: Sirex carinthiacus Konow, 1892, Pachynematus moerens (Förster, 1854), Nematus ?brevivalvis Thomson, 1871 (identification to be confirmed), Amauronematus fasciatus Konow, 1897 and Amauronematus krausi Taeger & Blank, 1998; new to Italy is also an unidentified Pristiphora (?Lygaeophora) sp. Twelve species are new for the Apennines fauna. Besides the above ones, other five species have resulted new to Emilia-Romagna region. Concluding remarks concern a tentative categorization of the species according to to their distribution patterns and, with reference to montane species, according to their habitat. It is apparently the first amber fossil that can be definitively assigned to Tenthredininae. It displays two diagnostic forewing characters for this subfamily: having a bend distally in vein R and the junctions of veins M and Rs + M with vein R being some distance from each other. The variance and possible transitions between the anal vein configurations among the genera in Tenthredininae is briefly discussed. Keywords amber inclusion, sawfly, Tertiary, Eocene, taxonomy Introduction Tenthredinidae is the largest family of non-apocritan Hymenoptera by far, comprising more than 5500 described species (Huber 2009; Taeger & Blank 2010). Together with five other families they comprise the Tenthredinoidea or true sawflies. The larvae of the members of the superfamily are all herbivores and most are external feeders on green parts of angiosperms; however, other host plants and feeding modes (e.g., leafrolling, leafmining, or galling in leaves, buds and shoots; see Nyman et al. 1998, 2000) do occur. Recent comprehensive treatments of the phylogeny of the basal hymenopteran lineages, while providing strong support for the Tenthredinoidea, have consistently failed to retrieve the Tenthredinidae as monophyletic (Vilhelmsen 2001; Schulmeister 2003; Ronquist et al.

During 2003, entomological investigations were carried out into the sawflies (Hymenoptera, Symphyta) of Kopa~ki rit Nature Park, supported by the Ministry of Culture, project Insect Re- search, and by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports project Entomofauna of Kopa~ki rit. At three groups of stations: inundated, forest and open ground (a total of 8 stations) a total of 220 individuals were sampled selectively with a net and with sticky tablets. From this material, 73 species of sawfly were determined. There is a clear differentiation of the inundated area at which the presence of only 15 species was recorded, but with great abundance, 7 species being recorded only in such kind of habitat (they were recorded only in the inundated area). This investigation also demonstrated that the borderline area between forest and meadow was the best habitat for the sawfly. At this kind of station in Tikve{, the presence of 35 species was recorded. Key words: sawflies, Kopa~ki rit, biotic diversity Perovi}, F., Merdi}, E.

A terület kis kiterjedése ellenére gazdag és értékes faunával rendelkezik, amelynek az alapja a változatos vegetáció. A növényzet túlnyomó részét, 160 ha-t, gyep alkotja. Ezen belül megtalálhatók a száraz rétek: homoki sztyepprét, de az igen fajgazdag faunát eltartó nedves rétek is, mint a szittyós láprét, a zsombéksásos, a télisásos, mocsári sasos, a pántlikafüves, vagy a sédbúzás mocsárrét. A kúpvirág-aranyvessző társulás, a rozs- nokos akácos jelzi a terület részlegesen degradált állapotát. A 223 hektáros összterületen 37 hektár erdő található, jellegzetes fafajai a tölgy és az éger. Spermatodes- mata occur in all examined taxa within the sawfly grade (Xyelidae-Orussidae inclusive), but are not found in the Apocrita. Using DAPI staining, the numbers of individual sperm per sperma- todesm were calculated and the values obtained are mapped on to the current phylogenetic hy- pothesis. The plesiomorphic spermatodesm in the Hymenoptera, based on that observed in the putatively basal family Xyelidae, contains relatively few sperm, approximately 16. However, in the Tenthredinoidea and in the Siricidae, far larger numbers are found, reaching up to 256 in the Cimbicidae. In many insects, mature sperm released Until now, spermatodesmata have only from testicular follicles are neither free in- been characterised in a few sawflies, al- dividuals nor packaged into variously most entirely as part of ultrastructural in- complex spermatophores, but are ar- vestigations using transmission electron ranged in organised bundles with their microscopy (Quicke et al.

  • Cimbex Quadrimaculata (Müller, 1766), HYMENOPTERA: CIMBICIDAE
Scientific Papers. Series A. Agronomy, Vol. LIX, 2016 ISSN 2285-5785; ISSN CD-ROM 2285-5793; ISSN Online 2285-5807; ISSN-L 2285-5785 DISTRIBUTION, LIFE HISTORY AND BIOLOGY OF ALMOND SAWFLY (Cimbex quadrimaculata (Müller, 1766), HYMENOPTERA: CIMBICIDAE) Halil BOLU Dicle University, Faculty of Agriculture, Plant Protection Department, 21280 Diyarbakır, Turkey Corresponding author e-mail: [email protected] Abstract Cimbex quadrimaculata Müll. is an important pest in fruit-growing areas of Turkey where its hosts include almond, pear, plum, peach, apricot, and cherry. Surveys on C. quadrimaculata in various ecologies have been conducted in the provinces (Adyaman, Diyarbakr, Elazğ, Mardin) of Southeastern and Eastern Anatolia regions of Turkey between the years 2010-2014. C. quadrimaculata larvae collected from Amygdalus communis L. (Rosacae) in Adyaman, Diyarbakr, Elazğ, Mardin. There were similarities in the larvae population changes in Adyaman-Diyarbakr and Elazğ-Mardin. The highest density of the larvae was recorded of Besni location in Adyaman province. Population density of the larvae was low in Mardin. Occurrence of the larvae generally observed between April and July in the all of province. C. quadrimaculata overwinter as a pre-pupa in a cocoon in the ground or other protected place, pupating in the spring. In early summer, adults lay eggs in or on plant tissue and the larvae feed on the leaves. Key words: Cimbex quadrimaculata, Almond pest, Hymenoptera, Cimbicidae. INTRODUCTION Cimbex quadrimaculata Müll. (Hymenoptera: Cimbicidae) is a polyphagus pest, with almond, The almond (Amygdalus communis) is a apple, pear, plum, peach, apricot, and cherry species of tree native to the Middle East and among its most important hosts.
