Reminders: • Students should wear this year’s Walk-a-Thon Tshirts • Shorts and Gym Shoes • Water Bottles • Sunscreen applied at home • No electronics for students • Parents are welcome, no pets. • Volunteers do not have to sign in at the office, but please check in at MPR. • All visitors should park in the church parking lot on Friday. If you are here at the end of the day, you could tell your children to go out in Preschool Carpool and they will meet you there.

When there is high heat, students may remove masks outside. Masks become a health hazard at high temperatures. We will honor any family that chooses to keep their child masked outside. Please let your child’s teacher know if they should keep on their mask. With our air conditioning in full force, students will still be required to wear masks while indoors. With the high heat expected on Friday, students may keep masks on their desks for Field Day.

Students will be coming home with tuition raffles tickets today. Early Bird Drawing for $250 if you return them by May 28th. These awards are good for any Catholic institution in the U.S.! Thank you for any support you can provide.

8th Grade Parents: Due to all the church pews opening up, each family may now bring 6 guests. There will be NO seating chart sent home. It will be open seating. The doors to church will open at 6:00 p.m.

Friday, May 28th is the Mother’s /special guest mass. It begins at 8:30 a.m. in church.

Monday, May 31st Memorial Day- No School June 3rd - Last Day of School 11:30 a.m. dismissal, buses will run June 4th - Graduation 6:30 p.m.

COOK’S CURRICULUM CORNER The second grade students created a school wide prayer service honoring Mary for the month of May. The students collected various pictures of Mary that show her through others’ eyes. The students then chose songs to honor Mary, including student favorite, Salve Regina, which was chosen for its rocking way to honor Mary! The students were excited to play an important role in honoring the mother of Jesus!

Students in grades K-8 can practice math facts on www.mathscore.com. This free online platform is adaptive to students’ math abilities. This means that the program provides students’ with challenging, yet appropriate facts at their level and while continuing to track student progress and providing new skills as students’ master concepts. As a parent, you can sign up for a parent account and track your child’s progress.

Before and after care registration for grades K-6 is open. If you believe you will need either before or after care next school year, please register. You must register for both separately. Fees will be collected in August. You can find information and prices on the flyer attached at the bottom of the newsletter. Please follow the directions below to register your child(ren): 1. We are currently hiring junior high substitute teachers for the 2021-2022 school year. Anyone interested must have a four year college degree, complete FBI/BCI fingerprinting and become Virtus trained if not already. TUITION RAFFLE The 2021 Catholic Education Tuition Raffle Tickets will be sent home with K-8 students today! Tickets are $25 each. Tickets purchased & returned, with payment, to OLV no later than Friday, 5/28 will be eligible for a $250 early-bird drawing! Tuition prizes can be applied at ANY Catholic grade school (K-8), Catholic high school or secondary Catholic Institution. Be sure to ask your student for the tickets! Thanks in advance for your support. (Online sales for the 2021 Catholic Education Tuition Raffle will not begin until June 7th.)

VISI FEST VisiFest 2021 is ON! Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for VisiFest 2021 the weekend of August 13th, 14th & 15th! Look for additional details in the coming weeks! 2021 Basket Bonanza at VISIFEST VisiFest 2021 will be in PERSON with several baskets to view in our school library! Please consider supporting one of your favorite local stores, restaurants, businesses or salons by purchasing a gift card for our event. CAFETERIA Next week will be a blue week for the cafeteria. To order a Thirsty card, please send in $10, cash or check, in an envelope with your student's name, homeroom teacher and # of cards you wish to purchase. You can also use this form here or find it on our website under Visi Vitals, Lunch.

Lunch Charges: Every week, reminders have been given to students needing to pay back box lunch charges. Some of these charges date back to October. Please ask your child so this debt can be cleared. Thank you.

VAC Final Call for Golf Sign-ups: Golf sign-ups (Boys & Girls) will be closing THIS Sunday 5/23!

Tentative Tryout Dates - ROBINS NEST 6/1 starting at 4:30 6/2 starting at 4:00 6/8 starting at 9:00 6/9 starting at 10:30

Open to all boys and Girls, 5th through 8th grade. This league includes both Competitive and Instructional teams. The fee for each player $55 (includes a hat and a sleeve of balls), plus $25 for new players needing a shirt (shirts from last year will be the same), note shirts run big. Additionally course fees will also apply. Tryouts for the Competitive league are open to all participants and not separated by age or gender. We anticipate tryouts occurring the last week of May and first week of June. Parents will be required to attend/assist with 2 matches. Any questions please contact Mike Moorman [email protected].

Field Coordinator Needed: The Field Coordinator is a volunteer dedicated to the fields for our baseball & softball programs at Visitation • Coordinates volunteers to assist with Field Prep & Concession Set Up on Game Days • Coordinates training on best practices for field prep and training classes when needed • Coordinates maintenance of equipment (Gator, chalkers, lining tools, rakes etc) • Coordinates ordering of field supplies (Chalk, Field Dry, Dirt etc) • Makes recommendations for grounds improvement for coordinators (i.e. new fencing, signage, professional field work etc)

Fall Sign-ups: Signups are now open for Football, Soccer, Golf and Girls Volleyball on www.vacsports.com. As a reminder, no refunds will be issued and once teams are posted, the participant may not switch teams.

Soccer (all boys and girls entering Preschool through High School): Lollipop: $25/player Registration will remain open until late summer. Generally 3-5 years old, played on Friday nights for 1 hour. (8 nights) Pre-Passer: $85/player Registration will remain open until late summer. All kindergarteners will be placed at this level (1-2 practices a week, with 8 games). 1-8th grade: Fee $85/player. Registration open until May 1st. (2 practices a week, 8 league games and end of season tournament). High School: Fee $50/player. Registration open until completion of HS soccer tryouts. Games on Sundays.

Football: Open to all boys entering K through 8th grade. The fee for each player is $100 for Bandits - Kindergarten through 2nd, and $110 for 3rd – 8th grade. Girls Volleyball: Open to all girls entering 3rd Grade through High School. The fee for each player is as follows: $60 for 3rd - 4th grade, $90 for 5th - 8th grade, $70 for High school. Tryouts for 5th - 8th grade TBD for early August. Tryout format and dates will be determined at a future date.

Practices start late October and games start in November. Signups for 5th-8th grade close August 7th. High school and 3rd/4th grade signups will close September 10th. No late sign ups, no exceptions. Any questions please contact – Julie Miller ([email protected])
