These programs can help participants get fit, be active and have fun, while reducing stress levels and providing options to learn new things and to get creative. The Division also issues, reviews and adjudicates parking tickets, and offers temporary on-street parking permits for sale online. Parks Operations helps Richmond Hill look its best by maintaining, operating and beautifying all parks and parks facilities, sports fields, open spaces, trail systems, arboriculture and horticultural areas. Richmond Hill is embarking on these very exciting projects that meet the needs of the community and help to expand recreational opportunities. Astronomy Series at the David Dunlap Observatory Richmond Hill is proud that the DDO continues to be a regional centre for education and public outreach related to astronomy. Our new Astronomy Series offers programs that allow residents to experience the wonders of astronomy through an indoor planetarium and enjoy stargazing, lectures and family events. The DDO Park includes 40 hectares of land that was protected from development. The DDO Park Master Plan sets out a vision for the future enhancement, management and programming of the DDO Park. Lake Wilcox Park Youth Area – Opening spring 2019 We’re creating a unique space for youth (ages 13 to 19) at the south end of Lake Wilcox Park. It will include a skatepark, 4 beach volleyball courts, 2 multi-use courts for basketball, futsal soccer and ball hockey, fitness equipment, Wi-Fi access and space to hang out and socialize. David Hamilton Park and Ed Sackfield Arena and Fitness Studio Construction We’re redeveloping David Hamilton Park, which was originally built in 1987. The modernized park will include new play areas, a splash pad, multi-use courts, new walkways, seating, lighting and sports facility upgrades. We’re also expanding Ed Sackfield Arena. The new wing will include an NHL-sized ice pad, a new fitness studio and aerobics room, new change rooms and a walking track. For construction updates, visit RichmondHill.ca/RecProject. New gymnasium at Rouge Woods Community Centre In November 2016, Council approved the repurposing of the indoor bocce facility at Rouge Woods Community Centre into a gymnasium. The design of the new multi-purpose gym is complete and renovations are projected to begin in September 2018.
