I did some calculations … and that volcano is gonna erupt, as sure as a rhinestone cowboy at a disco rodeo. I figured out when, too. It’s gonna happen at sundown - tomorrow. I’m serious as a guacamole shortage at a taco party. I determined the timeline through analysis of seismic activity, gas emissions, geomagnetic and gravimetric changes. Over the next thirty-six hours, tremors will increase and boulders will fall, eventually leading to a cataclysmic eruption which will completely destroy Bikini Bottom. The end is nigh. SpongeBob: No, Mr. Krabs! I’ll find a way to stop that volcano! WE’ll use science, like Sandy said. We can use her jetpack to get to the top! Wait, pretty sure it’s only build for one. We’ll have to climb it, then. Patrick can help with that. He’s super strong. Sandy’s brians plus Patrick’s brawn plus my … I’m not sure what my thing is. But that won’t stop me. When the going gets tough, this sponge gets going. I’m not a simple sponge! We won’t have to leave Bikini Bottom after all. I’m putting together a team to save our town! Squidward: I still remember that night, my third-great talent show, the other fish calling me Loser! Loser! To this day, when I hear that word, something in me just SNAPS! But you got me through it, Mama. You told me so meday I’d play the Bikini Bottom Bandshell. Before time runs out, I will prove you right. I’m a pretty squid, Mama, and I’m going to show them what I’ve got! Plankton: Oh yes it is. What you said was true: it would take too long to hypnotize each of them into loving my chum burgers. But when fish are scared, they school together. If I get them all in one place, trapped where there’s nowhere to run, I can hypnotize them in bulk! First, though, I need to shut down this squirrel. 3 AUDITION MATERIALS Patrick: Huh? Sorry. I found this great belly button scratcher while I was packing, and we’ve been having a reaaaaaaaly nice time together. Cause um … sometimes my bellybutton itches. And then it doesn’t. But you don’t understand. I’m stuck inside and I can’t watch any of my shows. Because all that’s on TV is THIS! The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma ... Mayor of Bikini Bottom: We’ll order the escape pod, cash on delivery. Expedited shipping by six p.m. next business day. Just in time to get us out before sundown tomorrow. And it only costs ….NEPTUNE’s TRIDENT! There aren’t enough clams in all Bikini Bottom to pay for this! 4 AUDITION MATERIALS MUSIC Link to Audition Music Folder - includes sheet music, music with vocals and music without vocals. An intertidal pool is an ocean habitat where millions of sea creatures live. Bob the Sponge's world was created by Stephen Hillenburg. Stephen Hillenburg Steven Hillenburg was born on August 21, 1961 and died on November 26, 2018. He was an American animator, voice actor, and marine science educator. He is best remembered for creating the Nickelodeon animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants which he also directed, produced, and wrote. It has become the fifth-longest-running American animated series. Steven was born in Lawton, Oklahoma and raised in Anaheim, California, Hillenburg became fascinated with the ocean as a child and developed an interest in art. He started his professional career in 1984, instructing marine biology, at the Orange County Marine Institute, where he wrote The Intertidal Zone, an informative comic book about tide-pool animals, which he used to educate his students. In 1989, two years after leaving teaching, Hillenburg enrolled at the California Institute of the Arts to pursue a career in animation. He was later offered a job on the Nickelodeon animated television series Rocko's Modern Life (1993–1996) after his success with The Green Beret and Wormholes (both 1992), short films that he made while studying animation. In 1994, Hillenburg began developing The Intertidal Zone characters and concepts for what became SpongeBob SquarePants. The show has aired continuously since its premiere in 1999. He also directed The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), which he originally intended to be the series finale. However, Nickelodeon wanted to produce more episodes, so Hillenburg resigned as the showrunner. He went back to making short films, with Hollywood Blvd., USA (2013). In 2015, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water was released; the second film adaptation of the series, it marked Hillenburg's return to the franchise, wherein he co-wrote the story and acted as an executive producer on the project.

They began working in the early 1900s, at the same time as Walt Disney, but while Disney went on to become a household name, the Fleischers are barely remembered. Our film will change this, introducing a wide national audience to a family of brothers – Max, Dave, Lou, Joe, and Charlie – who created Fleischer Studios and a roster of animated characters who reflected the rough and tumble sensibilities of their own Jewish immigrant neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. “The Fleischer story involves the glory of American Jazz culture, union brawls on Broadway, gangsters, sex, and southern segregation,” says advisor Tom Sito. Advisor Jerry Beck adds, “It is a story of rags to riches – and then back to rags – leaving a legacy of iconic cinema and evergreen entertainment.” BUDGET Outright Request 600,000.00 Cost Sharing 90,000.00 Matching Request 0.00 Total Budget 690,000.00 Total NEH 600,000.00 GRANT ADMINISTRATOR Ms.

  • My Psychological Theory About Spongebob Squarepants by Yalda Uhls, Researcher, Children's Digital Media Center
My Psychological Theory About SpongeBob SquarePants by Yalda Uhls, Researcher, Children's Digital Media Center May 8, 2012 “Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?" Most people easily pick up on the importance of television programming like Sesame Street and other educational shows for young children. Shows like these embed lessons about letters, manners, multiculturalism and more into their content. For adults, the lessons seem obvious, so we feel good about allowing our children to watch and learn from this kind of television show. But other shows seem to hold zero promise of learning. One example might be SpongeBob SquarePants, an extremely popular cartoon on the Nickelodeon cable channel. Children, including my 4-year old son, were enthralled with this bizarre show about a sponge and his life under the sea. SpongeBob lives in a pineapple next door to a squid that plays the clarinet. He works for a crab that runs the [Krusty Krab,] and his best friend is a starfish. Besides perhaps fostering an interest in marine biology, it's hard to understand the show's ability to fascinate, let alone teach. Yet after many years of watching this show with my son, I have come to believe that SpongeBob SquarePants teaches children fundamental lessons about basic human values in a non-preachy manner through the authentic actions of its characters. First, a two-second primer on values... Some psychologists believe that human values are a dominating force in life, as values are thought to motivate human behavior and attitudes. The construct [theory] was defined and redefined by many famous psychological scientists from Lewin to Rokeach to Schwartz and Kasser.

DESCRIPTORS *Childrens Television; Content Analysis; Preschool Education; *Programming (Broadcast); Television Research IDENTIFIERS Sesame Street ABSTRACT Following a content analysis, 85 children's programs were assigned a pacing index derived from the following criteria:(1) frequency of camera cuts;(2) frequency of related scene changes;(3) frequency of unrelated scene changes;(4) frequency of auditory changes;(5) percentage of active motion;(6) percentage of active talking; and (7) percentage of active music. Results indicated significant differences in networks' pacing overall and in the individual criteria: the commercial networks present the bulk of the very rapidly paced programming (much of it in the form of cartoons), and those networks devoted primarily to educational programming--PBS and The Learning Channel--present very slow-paced programs.
