Coronavirus [COVID-19] What is ISOLATION?

Isolation is for people who feel sick with symptoms of COVID-19. Isolation means being by yourself away from everyone. Isolation is very important to stop sickness spreading to other people.

Isolate in community 1-2 days while waiting for test results

If you can’t isolate safely at home then you can isolate in a designated house in your community. You will be by yourself in a single room. You will not be able to leave to go shopping or visit people. People are not allowed to visit you.

You can talk with family and friends on the phone. It is really important to stay connected, but people are not allowed to visit you.

Food and drinks will be brought to your door. Clinic staff will check on you each day to see how you are.

You will need to wash your hands with soap and water and dry them a lot. You will need to do regular cleaning of the room and house. Blow your nose and throw tissues in the bin.

An Aboriginal Health Practitioner or nurse from the clinic will

come and check how you are feeling every day. If you need an interpreter when reading this, please ask a staff member. If symptoms develop contact the clinic on ...... 08 89792018

What is diabetes? Diabetes is a chronic condition which many people live with. It is caused when the pancreas does not produce insulin or make enough insulin to move the glucose around the body. Glucose is another type of sugar, which our body uses as energy for our bodies. When there is too much glucose, this can lead to health problems. However, Diabetes, can be managed by following daily self-care and making healthy choices with food we eat, what we drink and leading an active lifestyle. There is no cure for diabetes but by making healthy choices those living with diabetes can live a better quality of life and we can reduce the risk of it.

There are three types of diabetes:  Type 1 – The cause is unknown and can be managed by taking insulin to control blood sugar.  Type 2 – People that are at risk include those that are overweight and ethnicity.  Gestational diabetes – Can occur during pregnancy.
