CITY DISASTER MANAGEMENT PLAN YEAR: 2020-21 MAYOR, VADODARA MESSAGE Vadodara city is one of the fastest growing and developing cities of the nation. The citizens are disciplined, progressive, and hardworking. There are ample of resources in and around the city for human’s social and health well-being. But when disaster struck the daily work of the citizen not only hinders the progress of a city but a state and a nation. Due to climate change and global warming, India is more prone to disasters. Cyclones, heavy rainfall and floods are the ones which affect Vadodara city the most. Among other risks are of earthquake, heat waves and Industrial Chemical Disasters. Every available and possible resource is allocated for the best of disaster management by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. The more emphasis is given on planning, prepared and training activities of the citizens, as prevention is better than cure! Help from every citizen and organization is expected in terms of disaster management activities. The emergency response teams, fire brigade, police, health department, sanitation department play an important role in fighting any mishap which strikes the city. It is the perseverance of the citizens which leads to the betterment of life in Vadodara city. During this period, the TISS developed baseline data on social, demographic, economic, cultural and environmental aspects of individuals, families and communities in 33 villages in Akkalkuwa and Akrani tehsils of Dhule (now Nandurbar) district, and tracked changes in the habitat and life conditions of people shifted from Manibeli, Dhankhedi, and Chimalkhedi villages to Parveta (one of the earliest resettlement sites in Gujarat). While TISS moved out of its monitoring and evaluation role in 1994, it continued to track the progress made on various aspects of the SSP. Dam height has been steadily increasing and reached 121.92 m in October 2006; the final and pending phase of installing radial gates will take the dam height to 138.68 m. -

INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DEVELOPMENT PLAN 1. The Government of Gujarat (GoG), through the Roads and Buildings Department (R&BD), has taken up the second Gujarat State Highway Project (GSHP-II), covering up-gradation, maintenance and improvement of identified core road network in the state. The GoG has proposed to take up this project with financial assistance from the World Bank. R&BD has retained LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd., (LASA) for project preparatory works consultancy services for GSHP-II. An Updated Strategic Options Study (USOS) was carried out by the R&BD in 2005-06 which was subsequently revalidated in 2010 for the State Core Road network. The improvements of 1003.22 km in the project includes: (i) upgradation corridors for a length of 644.05 km, involving the strengthening and upgrading of single/intermediate lane roads to standard 2-lane/ 2-lane-with-paved-shoulders / 4-lanes, and (ii) major maintenance, of the remaining 359.17km. In line with the prioritization exercise, R&BD has selected nine corridors, aggregating to about 394 km in length. The upgradation corridors to be taken up for implementation include thirteen corridors. Out of these, as part of DPR preparation, social safeguard reports have been prepared for 8 corridors. 2. In Gujarat, Scheduled Areas consists of 43 tribal Talukas, 15 pockets and 4 clusters located in 12 districts. -

Response surface methodology was used to optimize the ingredients levels. Stability of instant rice porridge mix packed in polypropylene (PP) and Metallised polyester (MP) pouches was evaluated by monitoring changes in physico-chemical and sensory attributes periodically. Effect of feed moisture and sugar content on the Increase in feed moisture and sugar content on the functional and sensory attributes of the rice porridge mix was studied. An increase in the moisture content and sugar content resulted in the decrease in expansion ratio with the increase in bulk density thereby affecting the sensory quality of rice porridge mix. Instant rice porridge mix remained stable and acceptable for 9 and 12 months in PP and MP packaging materials under ambient temperature conditions. Irrespective of packaging materials and the storage period, porridge mixes get reconstituted in hot water within 1 minute.
