Now in its 16th year, the Abu Dhabi Festival continues to be a beacon of cross-cultural understanding, empowering and inspiring humanity across the globe. For 2019, this incredible celebration of arts and culture features more than 100 events, 18 productions, two co-productions and two commissions across 25 venues, with an illustrious mix of artists and genres across Opera, Ballet, Orchestra, Jazz and Flamenco. Underscoring its commitment to championing global cultural exchange, creativity and innovation in the arts and furthering its symphony of global cultures, in 2019 the Festival will celebrate the Republic of Korea as its ‘Country of Honour’. This year the Festival’s central theme is the ‘Culture of Determination’, as it joins forces with the Special Olympics World Games that are also taking place in the UAE capital during the month of March, in celebration of everyone who battles against the odds to make a positive impact on society. This theme is one each of us can relate to, and the brave Olympians who will be competing here are inspirational human beings whose drive and determination, in the face of often great adversity, should bring joy and hope to everyone. Presenting more than 500 international artists from 17 different countries, and featuring masterpieces by 18 different composers, Abu Dhabi Festival 2019’s headline programme includes soulful performances by American mezzo-soprano, Joyce DiDonato with Orchestra il pomo d’oro, directed by Maxim Emelyanychev; Korea’s first professional ballet company, the Korean National Ballet; one of Korea’s leading theatre orchestras, the Korean Symphony Orchestra; award-winning American jazz piano extraordinaire, composer, producer, educator and Quincy Jones Artist, Justin Kauflin; Welsh bass-baritone, Sir Bryn Terfel; Sara Baras, considered one of the best flamenco dancers and choreographers in the world; and, to conclude the Festival, a performance by the oldest national ballet company, The Paris Opera Ballet, by George Balanchine. The Festival will also host a compelling exhibition entitled Distant Prospects, presenting the history of European landscape painting from the world-renowned LIECHTENSTEIN. The Princely Collections, including permanent loans from The Hohenbuchau Collection and other private collections. Exhibited for the first time in the Middle East, these artworks – some of the world’s most important – survey the history of landscape painting over the course of several centuries and the exhibition will feature key figures in the Late Renaissance and Baroque artistic movements. Parallel to the exhibition, an engaging educational programme will inspire visitors with panel discussions, guided tours and creative workshops. Extending the programme further afield, a specially designed residency will offer a unique experience for five practicing Emirati artists who will be given the opportunity to visit Vaduz and Vienna through a diverse itinerary of cultural engagements. In line with its legacy to champion culture in all its forms, the Festival will also recognise outstanding achievements in the music industry by prolific musical pioneers through the Abu Dhabi Festival Awards. This year’s recipients include Joyce DiDonato, in recognition of her life long contribution to music; Aurélie Dupont, for her outstanding devotion to the art of ballet; Barenboim – Said Akademie, for its commitment to building bridges through arts and culture; and the late Ousha bint Khalifa Al Sweidi in honour of her exceptional contributions to Emirati poetry. Originally created for The Art of Bryn Terfel, directed by Amy Lane and performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in September 2013, this production is designed to envelop the concert hall, thrillingly recreating the passion and drama within Puccini’s iconic opera. Imaginative videography places the performance firmly in Rome in the 1800s, evoking Scarpia’s distorted vision of the world and providing a chilling and atmospheric backdrop in which the opera takes place. In the role of Scarpia, Sir Bryn Terfel is joined by Kristine Opolais singing Tosca, and Vittorio Grigolo singing Cavaradossi in what promises to be a complete operatic experience full of love, corruption, intrigue and murder. The orchestra will be Sinfonia Cymru, joined by C.Ô.R. choir, conducted by Gareth Jones. TOSCA

Kristine Opolais is one of the most sought after sopranos on the international scene today, with a firmly established reputation amongst the world’s pre-eminent singing actresses, combining lustrous tone and fierce dramatic intensity. Opolais appears at the Metropolitan Opera New York, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Opernhaus Zürich and Royal Opera House Covent Garden. She is working with such conductors as Daniel Barenboim, Sir Antonio Pappano, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Mark Elder, Daniel Harding, Andris Nelsons, Fabio Luisi, Kirill Petrenko and Semyon Bychkov. Known for notable collaborations with the Metropolitan Opera, Opolais’ performances frequently broadcast in HD worldwide. In Autumn 2018 she returned to the Met to sing Suor Angelica, a role she has recorded for the Orfeo label but until that point had not sung on stage. Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel has established an extraordinary career, performing regularly on the prestigious concert stages and opera houses of the world. After winning the Song Prize at the 1989 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, Sir Bryn made his professional operatic debut in 1990 as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with Welsh National Opera. He made his international operatic debut in 1991 as Speaker in Die Zauberflöte at the Théâtre de la Monnaie, Brussels and his American debut in the same year as Figaro with Santa Fe Opera. Other roles performed during his career include Méphistophélès in Faust; both the "title role" and Leporello in Don Giovanni; Jochanaan in Salome; Scarpia in Tosca; the title role in Gianni Schicchi; Nick Shadow in The Rake’s Progress; Wolfram in Tannhäuser; Balstrode in Peter Grimes; Four Villains in Les contes d’Hoffmann and Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Sir Bryn marked his 50th birthday and 25 years in the profession with a special one-off Gala Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, presented by Hollywood star Michael Sheen. The celebrations continued at Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre, where he sang Scarpia in a special concert performance of Tosca with the Welsh National Opera. Recent performances include Holländer in Der fliegende Holländer for Zürich Opera; Falstaff at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the world premiere of an original show by Robat Arwyn and Mererid Hopwood – Hwn Yw Fy Mrawd – chronicling the life of film star and singer, Paul Robeson, at the Wales Millennium Centre as part of the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Equally at home on the concert platform, his highlights range from the opening ceremony of the Wales Millennium Centre, BBC Last Night of the Proms and the Royal Variety Show, to a Gala Concert with Andrea Bocelli in Central Park, New York. Over a nine-year period he hosted his own festival at the Faenol Estate near his Caernarfonshire home in North Wales. Sir Bryn is a Grammy, Classical Brit and Gramophone Award winner with a discography encompassing operas of Mozart, Wagner and Strauss, and more than 15 solo discs including Lieder, American musical theatre, Welsh songs and sacred repertory. Bryn was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to Opera in 2003, was awarded the Queen’s Medal for Music in 2006 and received a knighthood for his service to music in 2017. He was the last recipient of the Shakespeare Prize by the Alfred Toepfer Foundation and, in 2015, he was given The Freedom of the City of London. Terfel is President of the Welsh homelessness charity, Shelter Cymru, and is Patron of Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, a registered charity based in Cardiff that provides specialist Bobath therapy to children from all over Wales who have cerebral palsy. He also heads up the Bryn Terfel Foundation to help young singers start their careers while minimising financial hardship. Singing Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, roles from the Baroque to the 20th century repertoire, he subsequently completing his postgraduate studies at has performed at Glyndebourne Festival and Glyndebourne the Royal Academy of Music in London. Gareth Jones began his conducting career in 1990 as a member of the Music Staff at Welsh National Opera. While there he conducted an extensive range of repertoire including Un Ballo in Maschera, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Turandot, Nabucco, La Traviata, Ernani, Die Fledermaus, Eugene Onegin, The Yeomen of the Guard, Faust, La Bohème, Fidelio, Billy Budd, The Carmelites, Carmen, Kátya Kabanová, The Cunning Little Vixen, Jenufa, Le nozze di Figaro, Der Fliegende Hollander, Madama Butterfly, La Cenerentola, Die Zauberflöte and Hänsel Und Gretel. In 1996, Gareth formed Sinfonia Cymru, which has established itself as Wales’ premier chamber orchestra. Many prominent artists have worked with Gareth and the orchestra and, as a result of a highly acclaimed Gala concert given by Sinfonia Cymru in April 2000 with Sir Bryn Terfel, which included a performance of Wotan’s Farewell, a bond has developed between Bryn, Gareth and the orchestra. Gareth has worked with Sir Bryn on numerous projects including the disc We’ll Keep a Welcome – opera galas at the Faenol, Henley and Hampton Court Festivals, and an S4C recording of Handel’s Messiah. In addition, together they have staged more than 70 concerts worldwide, including Sir Bryn’s BBC Proms debut with Renée Fleming in works by Wagner and Strauss. In 2013 they toured Scandinavia together for a concert series of an all-Wagner programme and Gareth was conductor at Sir Bryn’s Faenol Festival, where he worked with international singers such as Andrea Bocelli, Angela Gheorghiu, Rolando Villazon, Renée Fleming, Carlos Alvarez, Simon Keenlyside and Diana Damrau. C.Ô.R. (Côr Osian Rowlands) was formed in 2013 to raise money for the 2015 Caerphilly Urdd Eisteddfod. They perform annual Christmas concerts at Caerphilly Castle, as well as Easter and Summer concerts, and have raised significant funds for various charities. They were responsible for the soundtrack of the Grammy Award-nominated filmPride and also sang with Sir Bryn Terfel for his 50th birthday programme for Wales’ national television broadcaster S4C: Bywyd trwy Gân. The choir recorded Elin Manahan Thomas’ Welsh translation of Bach’s St John Passion for S4C, as well as broadcast performances with Cerys Matthews, Katherine Jenkins and broadcast concerts for Radio Cymru. They also performed a concert performance of Tosca alongside Sir Bryn Terfel and WNO Orchestra at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod. The choir is conducted by Osian Rowlands. SINFONIA CYMRU

Sinfonia Cymru musicians are some of the best and most talented young professionals of their generation, passionate about performing and programming music for audiences throughout Wales and beyond. The orchestra regularly presents orchestral tours, chamber concerts and concerts in unusual places and spaces, creative learning projects, and cross-genre projects with musicians and composers across the wider musical spectrum. Founded in 1996 by Gareth Jones, Sinfonia Cymru has worked with an array of guest soloists and collaborators, including Catrin Finch, Rachel Podger, Gwilym Simcock, Jess Gillam, Llyr Williams and Sir Bryn Terfel. Upcoming engagements include a tour with BBC Young Musician winner Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and a collaborative project with acclaimed world music collective Kabantu, to create new work inspired by folk and traditional music that will tour in summer 2019. The orchestra has been broadcast on Sky Arts, BBC Wales and BBC Radio 3, and has recorded two discs for Deutsche Grammophon: Blessing with Catrin Finch and Cantata Memoria by Sir Karl Jenkins, as well as Birdsong – Cân yr Adar, with Gwilym Simcock and Kizzy Crawford, which was released by Basho Music in 2018. Since 2017, Sinfonia Cymru has worked in partnership with innovative tech/ creative workspace Tramshed Tech to produce eclectically programmed concerts that are live streamed on Facebook and feature digital/music installations by emerging young composers. Sinfonia Cymru has played at festivals in Wales and further afield, including Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Festival of Voice, Hampstead Arts Festival, Tete-a-Tete Opera Festival and Vibrate Festival in Romania. Amy is the Head Staff Director at The Royal Opera, Covent Garden. As a young singer, she performed with The Royal Opera, English National Opera, British Youth Opera, Opera Holland Park and was a backing singer for Barry Manilow when he performed at Wembley Arena. For Sir Bryn Terfel, Amy has directed and designed Bryn Terfel at 50 (Royal Albert Hall), Tosca (RLPO and WNO) and Falstaff (RLPO). Tim began his working life at the Royal Shakespeare Company as an early practitioner of theatre video design. During this time he designed the video for countless productions, most notably the multi award- winning Matilda The Musical. After six successful years at the Royal Shakespeare Company, Tim decided to found his own business, Eight Engines. Under the banner of Eight Engines, Tim has video designed various high profile productions including Warhorse in Concert and Bryn Terfel at 50 – both at The Royal Albert Hall, Tosca at the Welsh Millennium Centre, Falstaff at Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Ross at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Alongside his theatre work, Tim is an accomplished filmmaker having shot and produced several award- winning dramas for the BBC including Black Roses: The Killing of Sophie Lancaster and Men Who Sleep in Cars, as well as the BAFTA nominated documentary, Children of the Holocaust. بدأ باكستر مسيرته المهنية لدى شركة "رويال شكسبير" كمصمم للفيديوهات المسرحية. وعمل خالل هذه الفترة على تصميم الفيديوهات لعدد كبير من العروض الفنية كان أبرزها مسرحية "ماتيلدا" الموسيقية الحائزة على العديد من الجوائز. وبعد 6 سنوات حافلة بالنجاحات في "رويال شكسبير"، قرر تيم تأسيس شركته الخاصة "ايت إنجينز". وقام باكستر تحت جناح "ايت إنجينز" بتصميم الفيديوهات للعديد من العروض الفنية المهمة بما فيها حفلي "حصان الحرب" و"برين تيرفل في الخمسين" وكالهما تم عرضه في قاعة آلبرت الملكية، باإلضافة إلى "توسكا" في "مركز ويلز ميلينيوم"، و"فالستاف" في دار أوركسترا ليفربول الملكية الفيلهارمونية، و"روس" على مسرح "تشيشستر فيستيفال". وإلى جانب أعماله المسرحية، برع باكستر في إخراج وإنتاج مجموعة من األعمال الدرامية الحائزة على العديد من الجوائز لصالح هيئة اإلذاعة البريطانية )BBC( ومنها "الزهور السوداء: مقتل صوفي النكستر"، و"الرجال الذين ينامون في السيارات"، باإلضافة إلى الفيلم الوثائقي "أطفال المحرقة" الذي ترشح لجوائز األكاديمية البريطانية لفنون السينما والتلفزيون )بافتا(. جوقة أوسيان روالندز تأسست جوقة أوسيان روالندز في العام 2013 بغرض جمع التبرعات لـ "مهرجان كارفيلي آرد أيستدفود" عام 2015. وتؤدي الفرقة حفالت سنوية في مناسبة عيد الميالد في "قلعة كارفيلي"، وكذلك حفالت عيد الفصح والصيف، وقامت بجمع تبرعات كبيرة لصالح العديد من الجمعيات الخيرية. ّوأدت الجوقة الموسيقى التصويرية لفيلم "برايد" المرشح لنيل "جائزة جرامي"، كما شارك السير برين تيرفل الغناء في برنامج االحتفال بعيد ميالده الخمسين على التلفزيون الوطني الويلزي "S4C: Bywyd trwy Gân" .وسجلت الجوقة للتلفزيون الوطني الويلزي "آالم القديس جون" لباخ وفق ترجمتها الويلزية إليلين ماناهان توماس، كما أدت عروضًا مباشرة مع كيريس ماثيو وكاثرين جنكنز، وحفالت إذاعية لراديو كامري. وقامت الجوقة بإحياء عرض موسيقي ألوبرا "توسكا" إلى جانب السير برين تيرفل، و"أوركسترا أوبرا ويلز الوطنية" في "مهرجان النجوثلين إنترناشيول أيستدفود". ويتولى أوسيان روالندز قيادة الجوقة.

أوركسترا كامري السيمفونية

روماناس كودرياشوفاز- القندلفت مايلير جونز- سكياروني

تعتبر من أبرز نجوم السوبرانو وأكثرهم ًشعبية في العالم اليوم، ًفضال عن مكانتها المرموقة بين ألمع فنانات الغناء والتمثيل، حيث تجمع بين الصوت العذب والعاطفة الدرامية الشغوفة. وتقدم أوبواليس عروضًا في "أوبرا ميتروبوليتان" في نيويورك، و"دار أوبرا فيينا"، و"دار األوبرا األلمانية" في برلين، "دار أوبرا والية بافاريا"، و"مسرح ال سكاال"، و"دار أوبرا زيوريخ"، و"دار األوبرا الملكية كوفلت جاردن". وهي تتعاون مع العديد من قادة األوركسترا البارزين أمثال دانييل بارنبويم، والسير أنطونيو بابانو، والسير سيمون راتل، والسير مارك إلدر، ودانيال هاردينغ، وأندريس نيلسونز، وفابيو لويزي، وكيرييل بيتريانكا، وسيميون بيشكوف. كما تشتهر أوبواليس بأعمالها المشتركة مع "أوبرا ميتروبوليتان"، والتي يتم بثها حول العالم. وفي خريف عام 2018، عادت إليها لتؤدي دور األخت أنجيليكا ألول مرة على خشبة المسرح بعد أن قامت بتسجيله لصالح شركة تسجيالت "أورفيو". وتألقت في تأدية الدور الرئيسي في العرض األوبرالي "حورية البحر الصغيرة" من إنتاج شركة "زيمرمان لإلنتاج الفني"، وأشادت بها صحيفة "نيويورك تايمز" بالقول "أداء صوتي مبهر وإحساس رقيق مثير للشجن". وفي عام 2014، حققت أوبواليس إنجازًا غير مسبوق في "ميتروبوليتان" عبر تأديتها دورين ضمن عرضين يقدمان ألول مرة بفاصل زمني ال يتعدى 18 ساعة بينهما؛ أولهما دورها الشهير في عرض "ماداما باتيرفالي"، والثاني دورها في العرض العالمي "البوهيم".

وأحيت أوبواليس عدة حفالت موسيقية وعروض فردية لقيت ًأصداء واسعة، ونذكر منها على سبيل المثال ال الحصر "مهرجان سالزبورغ"، ومهرجان "بي بي سي برومز"، ومهرجان "جورج إنسكو"، ومهرجاني "توركو" و"تانغلوورد"، وفي قاعة "موسكفيرين للحفالت الموسيقية"، ومسرح "بادن بادن" لألوبرا والحفالت، و"دار األوبرا السلطانية" في مسقط، وقاعة "رويال كونسيرت خيباو"، وقاعة "كارنيجي". كما سجلت ظهورًا مميزًا مع فرق سيمفونية عدة مثل "أوركسترا برلين فيلهارمونيك العالمية"، و"اليبزيغ جيواندهاوس أوركسترا"- التي تقوم بجولة معها هذا الموسم، و"أوركسترا اإلذاعة البافارية السيمفونية"، و"أوركسترا فيالرمونيكا ديال سكاال". وكان أخر تسجيل أوبرالي لها في خريف عام 2017، وهو عمل توسكا على قرص مضغوط "DVD" من إنتاج شركة "هملمان" في بادن بادن، وذلك برفقة فرقة "أوركسترا برلين فيلهارمونيك العالمية" بقيادة السير سيمون راتل. الفصل الثاني بذلك تلتقط توسكا سكينًا عن طاولة العشاء بأعصاب باردة. ويتقدم سكاربيا بسرعة نحو توسكا الحتضانها شقة سكاربيا في قصر فارنيزي، الليلة ذاتها فتطعنه ًباكية: "هذه قبلة توسكا!". وعندما تتأكد من وفاته، تقول بأسى: "لقد سامحته اآلن". تأخذ الوثيقة في وقت العشاء، يرسل سكاربيا رسالة إلى توسكا من جيبه، وتضيء الشموع في لفتة دينية ّثم تضع يطلب منها الحضور إلى شقته مترقبًا تحقيق هدفيه صليبًا على الجثة قبل مغادرتها. اإلثنين قريبًا في الوقت نفسه. يصل مساعده سبوليتا ُليبلغه أن أنجيلوتي ال يزال طليقًا، ولكنه اعتقل كافارادوسي الستجوابه. فيتم إحضاره واستجوابه. الفصل الثالث وبينما ينكر الرسام بالكامل اتهامه بمعرفته أي شيء عن هروب أنجيلوتي، ُيسمع صوت توسكا وهي تنشد األجزاء العليا من قلعة سانت أنجلو، في وقت أنشودة دينية احتفالية في مكان آخر من القصر. مبكر من صباح اليوم التالي تدخل توسكا إلى الشقة في تلك اللحظة لتشاهد يتردد صوت غناء ٍراع شاب في الكواليس، فيما تقرع كافارادوسي ُيساق إلى غرفة االستجواب، وهنا يتسنى أجراس الكنيسة في الصباح الباكر. يقود الحراس له أن يحذرها من كشف أي معلومات لهم. بعد ذلك، كافاردوسي ويخبروه بأن حكم اإلعدام ّسينفذ بعد يوهم سكاربيا توسكا بأنه يمكنها إنقاذ حبيبها من ساعة. يرفض رؤية الكاهن لكنه يطلب اإلذن لكتابة األلم المبرح شريطة أن تكشف له عن مخبأ أنجيلوتي. رسالة إلى توسكا، ليبدأ الكتابة بعد ذلك وهو غارق في ترفض توسكا، ولكن عندما تسمع أصوات الصراخ الذكريات. تصدر من وراء الباب تنهار في النهاية وتخبر سكاربيا بأن تدخل توسكا وتعرض عليه وثيقة العبور اآلمن، وتعترف يبحث عن أنجيلوتي في البئر الموجود في حديقة فيال له بقتلها سكاربيا وأن عملية إعدامه ستكون وهمية كافارادوسي. وأن عليه التظاهر بالموت فقط ليتمكنا بعدها من يأمر سكاربيا ّجالديه بإيقاف التعذيب، ويتم سحب الهرب ًسوية قبل اكتشاف ّجثة سكاربيا. يندهش الرسام الملطخ بالدماء إلى الداخل. يتحطم قلبه حين كافاردوسي بشجاعة حبيبته الرقيقة، وتتبادر إلى ذهنه يكتشف أن توسكا خانت صديقه. ثم يدخل سياروني، روعة الحياة التي ستجمعهما معًا بعيدًا عن روما. تبدأ مساعد آخر في الشرطة، وهو يحمل الخبر الحزين توسكا ومشاعر القلق في عينيها، تدريب كافاردوسي بشأن معركة مارينغو وبأن الجيش الفرنسي يتقدم على التظاهر بالموت عندما يتم إطالق الرصاص عليه. نحو روما. فيقول كافارادوسي لسكاربيا، وهو غير ويقدم وعدًا لها بأن يسقط منهارًا وكأنه توسكا في قادر على ضبط نفسه عن شعور الشماتة الذي يعتريه، دور مسرحي. بأن حكمه اإلرهابي سيزول قريبًا. وهذا وحده يكفي يقود الحراس كافاردوسي بعيدًا لتنفيذ اإلعدام، تراقبه لتعتبره الشرطة مذنبًا، فيسحبونه بعيدًا ليتم إعدامه توسكا بفارغ الصبر حتى يتم تنفيذ الحكم. يطلق رميًا بالرصاص. ّالحراس الرصاص على كافاردوسي الذي يسقط. ّتعلق وينفرد سكاربيا بتوسكا، ويعرض عليها صفقة بأن توسكا على أدائه في ّتصنع السقوط "فنان بمعنى تهبه نفسها مقابل إطالق سراح حبيبها كافاردوسي، الكلمة!". تهرع توسكا نحو حبيبها بعد مغادرة الجنود ولكنها تثور غضبًا وترفض محاوالته مرارًا وتكرارًا. وعند لتكتشف أن سكاربيا خانها، فالرصاص كان حقيقيًا. سماعها قرع الطبول في الخارج ًمعلنة قرار اإلعدام، تصاب توسكا بصدمة وتحتضن ّجثة حبيبها وتبكي كان سكاربيا ينتظر قرارها، فبدأت بالصالة ّوالتضرع هلل مكسورة الخاطر. بأال يتخلى عنها في هذه الساعة الحرجة لتحاول بعد تتعالى أصوات سبوليتا وشيرونيه والجنود يصرخون بأن ذلك تقديم المال إلى سكاربيا الذي ال يأبه لهذا النوع سكاربيا قد مات ًمقتوال وأن توسكا من قتلته. يتراكض من الرشوة، فهو يريد توسكا نفسها. الجنود فتنهض توسكا وتهرب من قبضتهم باتجاه يعود سبوليتا مع ٍأخبار تفيد بانتحار أنجيلوتي عند الشرفة وتصرخ "نلتقي أمام اهلل يا سكاربيا!" ّثم تلقي اكتشافه األمر، وأن كل شيء بات جاهزًا إلعدام بنفسها من الشرفة لتسقط ًجثة هامدة. كافاردوسي. تردد سكاربيا في إعطاء األمر وهو ّيحدق في عيني توسكا التي ما لبثت أن وافقت على عرضه. يصدر سكاربيا أوامره إلى سبوليتا لتنفيذ عملية إعدام وهمية ويؤكد كال الرجلين أنها ستكون مزيفة على غرار عملية إعدام الكونت بالميري، ثم يخرج سبوليتا. تشترط توسكا على سكاربيا تأمين وثيقة عبور آمن لها ولكافاردوسي إلى خارج روما، فيستجيب سكاربيا ًمباشرة ويتوجه إلى مكتبه لكتابة الوثيقة. وفيما يقوم توسكا

"توســكا" هي أوبرا مكونة من ثالثة فصول ألف َفيِ دع كافارادوسي بمساعدته بعد حلول الظالم. موســيقاها جياكومو بوتشــيني وكتب كلماتها الشاعران نسمع صوت توسكا تنادي كافارادوسي، فيعطي اإليطاليان لويجي إيليكا وجوســيبي جياكوسا، وتم كافارادوسي أنجيلوتي سلته المليئة بالطعام ويعود عرضها ألول مرة على مســرح كوســتانزي في روما في 14 أنجيلوتي بسرعة إلى مخبأه. يناير 1900. ويســتند هذا العمل إلى مســرحية "ال توسكا" تدخل توسكا وتسأل كافارادوسي بارتياب عما كان الدرامية التي كتبها فيكتوريان ســاردو باللغة الفرنســية، يفعله ألنها تشك بأنه كان يتحدث مع امرأة أخرى، وهــي ميلودرامــا تدور أحداثها في روما عام 1800 إبان ولكن كافارادوسي يطمئنها، وتحاول توسكا إقناعه غــزو نابليون إليطاليا مهددًا بإنهاء ســلطة مملكة نابولي لترافقه إلى فيلته في ذلك المساء. ثم تعرب له عن علــى روما. ويتضمــن العمل بعضًا من أفضل األلحان غيرتها من المرأة التي يرسمها في اللوحة، والتي الغنائية التي أبدعها بوتشــيني. تشبهها للماركيزة أتافانتي. فيفسر كافارادوسي لها عاشــت إيطاليا فترة طويلة من تاريخها منقســمة إلى وجه الشبه؛ بأنه بالكاد لمح الماركيزة أثناء الصالة في دويــالت صغيــرة، وكان البابا في روما يحكم الواليات الكنيسة. ويبدد مخاوف توسكا ويطمئنها بأنه مخلص البابوية وســط إيطاليا. وعقب الثورة الفرنســية، اجتاحت بحبه لها وبأنه لن يجد أجمل من عينيها بين النساء. 1796 الجيوش الفرنســية بقيــادة نابليون إيطاليا في عام ، وبعد أن تغادر توسكا، يظهر أنجيلوتي مجددًا ويناقش 1798 11 ودخلــت رومــا دون أي مقاومة في فبراير ؛ وقد مع صديقه الرسام خطته للهروب متنكرًا بزي امرأة أســس نابليون هناك نظامًا جمهوريًا، وأســر البابا بيوس بارتدائه المالبس التي تركتها شقيقته في الكنيسة. 1798 20 الســادس وأرســله إلى المنفى في فبراير ، وبقي فيعطي كافارادوسي صديقه مفتاح فيلته، ويقترح عليه 1799 فيــه إلى أن توفي عام ؛ ولــم يتمكن خليفته البابا أن يختبئ في بئر مهجور داخل حديقة الفيال. ولكن 14 بيوس الســابع، الذي انتخب في البندقية في مارس ُيسمع صوت مدفع يشير الكتشاف أمر هروب أنجيلوتي، 3 1800 ، من دخول روما حتى يوليو. ولهذا الســبب ال نرى فيهرع أنجيلوتي وكافارادوسي للخروج من الكنيسة. في األوبرا – التي تدور أحداثها في تلك الفترة - ما يشــير ّ إلى وجود ســلطة بابوية في روما. يدخل القندلفت مجددًا مع المرتلين سعداء باإلشاعة التي تفيد بهزيمة نابليون بونابرت في معركة مارينغو، ولكن االحتفاالت تتوقف فجأة مع دخول سكاربيا الفصل األول ومساعده األمين سبوليتا وعدد من عناصر الشرطة، فقد سمعوا بأن أنجيلوتي لجأ إلى الكنيسة. يأمر داخل كنيسة "سانت أندريا ديال فالي" سكاربيا بالبحث عنه، فتجد الشرطة سلة الطعام يندفع تشيزاري أنجيلوتي، وهو قنصل سابق الفارغة ومروحة تحمل شعار عائلة أتافانتي في لجمهورية روما وبات اآلن سجينًا سياسيًا هاربًا، إلى الكنيسة. يقوم سكاربيا باستجواب القندلفت، وتزداد داخل الكنيسة ويختبئ في الحجرة الخاصة لشقيقته شكوكه عندما يعلم أن الرسام كافارادوسي كان أتافانتي التي أخفت مفتاح الحجرة تحت قدم تمثال موجودًا في الكنيسة. إذ ال يثق سكاربيا به، ويعتقد بأنه السيدة العذراء. يدخل القندلفت )خادم الكنيسة( متواطئ في قضية هروب أنجيلوتي. العجوز إلى الغرفة ويبدأ بتنظيفها، ثم يركع ويبدأ عندما تصل توسكا التي تبحث عن حبيبها، يلعب بالصالة بينما تصدح أصوات أجراس البشارة. سكاربيا ببراعة على وتر غريزة الغيرة لديها موحيًا لها ويصل الرسام ماريو كافرادوسي ليكمل رسم بوجود عالقة غرامية بين الرسام والماركيزة أتافانتي. لوحته لمريم المجدلية، ويالحظ القندلفت شبهًا بين ويلفت انتباه توسكا إلى المروحة ويومئ لها بأن َ الصورة المرسومة وبين المرأة الشقراء التي اعتادت أحدًا ما ربما فاجأ العاشقين وهما داخل الكنيسة. زيارة الكنيسة في اآلونة األخيرة )وهي الماركيزة أخت تصدق توسكا خداعه، فتنطلق غاضبة لمواجهة أنجيلوتي(. في حين يصف كافرادوسي "التناغم كافارادوسي. يأمر سكاربيا مساعده سبوليتا وعناصر الخفي" الكامن في التناقض بين الجميلة الشقراء في الشرطة اللحاق بها مفترضًا بأنها ستقودهم إلى لوحته ومحبوبته المغنية فلوريا توسكا ذات الشعر مكان كافارادوسي وأنجيلوتي. يفرح سكاربيا في ّسره األسود، وهنا يغمغم القندلفت رافضًا األمر قبل أن مما يحدث كاشفًا عن نواياه للفوز بحب توسكا وتنفيذ يخرج من الغرفة. حكم اإلعدام بحق كافارادوسي. يدخل موكب الكنيسة ًمرتال ترنيمة "تي ديوم"، فيصرخ سكاربيا: يظهر أنجيلوتي على المسرح ويخبر صديقه القديم "توسكا، حبك ينسيني حتى اهلل!" وينضم سكاربيا إلى كافارادوسي، الذي ّيكن تعاطفًا مع الجمهوريين، جوقة المرتلين في الصالة. بأنه َمالحق من َقبل رئيس الشرطة البارون سكاربيا؛ توسكا العرض الفني

تم إنتاج هذا العمل الموسيقي ً بدايةإلدراجه ضمن ألبوم "فن برين تيرفل" في سبتمبر 2013، وكان حينها من إخراج إيمي الين وأداء أوركسترا ليفربول الملكية الفلهارمونية؛ وهو يعيد خلق العاطفة والدراما في رائعة بوتشيني بأسلوب مشوق.

ومن خالل جمع األوركسترا والجوقة معًا على المسرح، ُيبرز العرض النوتات الموسيقية القوية لعمل بوتشيني األصلي. ويطغى على العرض طابع درامي بامتياز، حيث يتم تأدية كل مشهد على خشبة المسرح بدقة وبراعة متناهيتين، في حين تم تصميم إنتاج ايمي لين ليتم تأديته وفق معايير حفالت القاعات الموسيقية وبحسب جدول محدد بوضوح. ويتضمن العمل أيضًا عروض لمقاطع فيديو، ً فضالعن األزياء غير المتسقة للمشاركين في العرض.

وباستثناء الشخصيات الثالث الرئيسية، تم انتقاء بقية ممثلي العمل من الفنانين الشباب. وقد تم تصميم هذا العرض بأسلوب يناسب قاعات الحفالت الموسيقية، حيث ينقلنا من خالل مقاطع الفيديو إلى روما في عام 1800 ليستحضر رؤية سكاربيا المشوهة عن العالم، ويضفي لمسات باردة على أجواء األوبرا. توسكا السير برين تيرفل مع كريستين أوبواليس وفيتوريو غريغولو أوركسترا كامري السيمفونية بقيادة جاريث جونز، وجوقة "كور"

مهرجان أبوظبي 2019

في نسخته السادسة عشر، يواصل مهرجان أبوظبي دوره كمنارة للتواصل الثقافي وتمكين وإلهام اإلنسانية في جميع أنحاء العالم. وتقدم هذه االحتفالية الفنية والثقافية الفريدة لعام 2019 أكثر من 100 فعالية تقام في 25 موقعًا، باإلضافة إلى 18مؤلفًا موسيقيًا، وإنتاجين مشتركين، وعملي تكليف حصري، وعروضًا مميزة يحييها نخبة من نجوم األوبرا والباليه واألوركسترا والجاز والفالمينكو. وتأكيدًا اللتزامه بتحفيز التبادل الثقافي العالمي، ودعم اإلبداع واالبتكار في مجال الفنون، وتعزيز الحوار بين األمم، يحتفي المهرجان بجمهورية كوريا كضيف شرف لدورة عام 2019. ويقام مهرجان أبوظبي هذا العام تحت شعار "ثقافة العزم"، حيث نتعاون مع األولمبياد الخاص األلعاب العالمية - الذي تستضيفه دولة اإلمارات خالل شهر مارس المقبل - ًاحتفاء بأصحاب الهمم، وكل من يسعى إلحداث فرق إيجابي في المجتمع. ويمس هذا الموضوع كل واحد منا، فهؤالء األبطال األولمبيون الشجعان الذين سيتنافسون هنا هم أشخاص ملهمون يحملون البهجة واألمل للجميع بعزيمتهم الكبيرة. ويقدم المهرجان أكثر من 500 فنان عالمي من 17 دولة مختلفة من بينهم 18مؤلفًا موسيقيًا، ويتضمن برنامجه الرئيسي حضورًا استثنائيًا للميتزو-سوبرانو العالمية جويس دي دوناتو مع أوركسترا "إيل بومو دورو" اإليطالية بقيادة مكسيم إيميليانتشيف؛ وفرقة الباليه الكورية الوطنية، أول مؤسسة متخصصة بالباليه في كوريا الجنوبية؛ واألوركسترا الكورية السيمفونية، إحدى فرق األوركسترا المسرحية الرائدة في كوريا؛ وجاستين كافلين، فنان الجاز وعازف البيانو األمريكي الحائز على العديد من الجوائز؛ وسارة باراس التي تعتبر واحدة من أشهر وأفضل راقصات الفالمينكو ومصممي الرقصات في العالم؛ ويختتم البرنامج الرئيس للمهرجان بعرض من تصميم الشهير جورج باالنشين تقدمه فرقة باليه دار أوبرا باريس، أعرق فرقة باليه وطنية في العالم. وينظم مهرجان أبوظبي معرضه الرئيسي للفنون التشكيلية هذا العام تحت عنوان "آفاق بعيدة" أعمال فنية للطبيعة األوروبية، مجموعة المقتنيات األميرية - لختنشتاين"، ألول مرة في الشرق األوسط، المقتنيات األميرية من لختنشتاين، إحدى أهم وأعرق المجموعات الخاصة في أوروبا والعالم، والتي تتضمن ًأعماال من القرن الخامس عشر حتى التاسع عشر، لكبار الفنانين أمثال روبين الموجودة أعماله في اللوفر باريس، برادو مدريد، وسميثسونيان واشنطن، متروبوليتان نيويورك وغيرها، ويتيح المعرض االستثنائي معاينة تاريخ رسم المناظر الطبيعية على مدى عدة قرون، حيث يضم شخصيات رئيسية من عصر النهضة والحقبة الباروكية. وبالتوازي مع المعرض، ّ م يقدالمهرجان برنامجًا تعليميًا مميزًا يهدف إلى إلهام الزوار عبر تنظيم حوارات جماعية وجوالت مصحوبة بمرشدين وورش عمل إبداعية. ويتم أيضًا تنظيم برنامج إقامة مصمم خصيصًا لتوفير تجربة فريدة لخمسة فنانين تشكيليين إماراتيين ستتاح لهم فرصة زيارة فادوز وفيينا من خالل برنامج متنوع من المشاركات الثقافية. وتماشيًا مع إرثه الراسخ بدعم جميع أشكال الثقافة، ّ ميقد المهرجان جوائزه السنوية للمبدعين من أصحاب اإلنجازات المتميزة في عالم الموسيقى. وتذهب جوائز مهرجان أبوظبي هذا العام إلى الميتزو-سوبرانو جويس دي دوناتو عن مسيرتها الفنية الحافلة في مجال األداء األوبرالي، وأوريلي ديبون إلسهاماتها الجليلة في فن الباليه، و"أكاديمية بارنبويم ـ سعيد" اللتزامها ببناء جسور التواصل من خالل الفنون والثقافة، وللشاعرة الراحلة عوشة بنت خليفة السويدي تكريمًا إلسهاماتها االستثنائية التي أثرت المكتبة الشعرية في اإلمارات.

8 حول مهرجان أبوظبي

تأسس مهرجان أبوظبي في عام تحت2004 رعاية سمو الشيخ عبداهلل بن زايد آل نهيان، وزير اإلعالم والثقافة آنذاك )وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي حاليًا( وحظي المهرجان برعاية كريمة من صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، ولي عهد أبوظبي، نائب القائد األعلى للقوات المسلحة، في الفترة من 2007 لغاية 2011، ويقام اليوم تحت رعاية معالي الشيخ نهيان مبارك آل نهيان، وزير التسامح. Proud sponsors of والفنون، ومحطة لقاء للثقافات العالمية، ويلعب المهرجان دورًا جوهريًا، بدعم من شبكة عالمية متنامية تضم أكثر من 30شريكًا ثقافيا استراتيجيا دوليًا، في احتضان اإلبداع واالبتكار من خالل الفنون، في إطار فعاليات .The Abu Dhabi Festival برنامجه الرئيسي ومنصاته الشبابية ومبادراته المجتمعية، في اإلمارات السبع، إلى جانب أعمال التكليف وعالقات التعاون الدولية، وتتيح هذه الشراكات للجمهور عروضًا أولى على المستويات الوطنية واإلقليمية والعالمية. يحتفي مهرجان أبوظبي بالقيم اإلماراتية، تعزيزًا للريادة في خدمة الثقافة واإلنسانية، بوحي من اإلرث الكبير الذي تركه لنا الوالد الشيخ زايد، رحمه اهلل، في سبيل إعالء قيم االحترام والتسامح واالنفتاح على الثقافات األخرى، ّوالتميز في التعليم والمعرفة. سيضم البرنامج الرئيسي لمهرجان أبوظبي في نسخته السادسة عشرة أكثر من 100 فعالية تقام في 25موقعًا، ويشارك فيها 543فنانًا عالميًا من 17 ًدولة من بينهم 18مؤلفًا موسيقيًا، باإلضافة إلى إنتاجين مشتركين، وعملي تكليف حصري، و 6عروض تقام للمرة األولى في العالم العربي.

حول مجموعة أبوظبي للثقافة والفنون

تأسست مجموعة أبوظبي للثقافة والفنون، الجهة ّالمنظمة لمهرجان أبوظبي، في العام 1996، وهي بذلك ُتعتبر ًواحدة من أقدم المؤسسات الثقافية ذات النفع العام في منطقة الخليج العربي. وتعنى المجموعة بدعم منجز الثقافة والفنون واستدامة التنمية الثقافية، عبر احتضان اإلبداع لما فيه خير المجتمع إسهامًا منها في إثراء الرؤية الثقافية ألبوظبي، ّ م وتقدالمجموعة طيفًا واسعًا من المبادرات منها مهرجان أبوظبي والعديد من المنصات الشبابية والبرامج المجتمعية التي تستقطب جماهير متنوعة، كما ترعى اإلمكانات اإلبداعية داخل اإلمارات وخارجها بالتعاون مع كبريات المؤسسات الثقافية المحلية والعالمية.
