TOTAL in partnership with Woodside and MPRL, is proposing to develop an offshore Oil and Gas facility in Block A-6. The development consists of:
A platform (~18 miles from coast);
Ten production wells;
A shallow water hub; and
A pipeline to the existing Yadana Platform.

Fishing Communities in Ayeyarwaddy Coastal Communities in Ayeyarwaddy
Waters of Block A-6 are used by fishers (mostly within 10 miles from the coast).
Fishers come from Ayeyarwaddy including Ngwe Saung, Sin Ma, Chaung Thar, Thae Kone, Shwetaungyan, and Hainggyi Kyun.
There are a number of tourist attractions including in Ngwe Saung, Goyangi Island, and Chaung. Pagoda on coastline neighbouring Block A6 Guesthouse on coastline neighbouring Block A6
Numerous pagodas along the coastline such as the Twin Pagodas on Ngwe Saung Beach and a pagoda in Nga Yoke Kaung Town.

There is a Key Biodiversity Area (KBA), Ngwe Saung, located around 8 miles from the Platform location.
This KBA is designated for mangroves and turtle species.
Ngayokekaung Bay is also designated as a potential Marine Protected Area and there are other designated areas within the Ayeyarwaddy Delta Region.

The Project will follow the Myanmar EIA Procedure (2015).
ERM is the third-party EIA consultant for A6 EIA studies
The Project is currently in the Scoping Stages Current which has completed public consultation Stage sessions in August 2020.
Local laws relating to EIA include: • Environmental Conservation Law (2012) • Environmental Conservation Rules (2014) • National Environmental Quality (Emission) Guidelines (2015) • EIA Procedure (2015)

Baseline data will be collected to inform the EIA Study. The studies include:
Environmental baseline surveys for marine water quality, benthic species, and sediment quality
Social and Industrial Baseline Study
