Joshua David Pollock, age 21, of Frisco, Texas passed away on March 21, 2009 in Austin, Texas. He was born on January 16, 1988 in Washington Court House, Ohio to John David and Ruby Ann (Huddleston) Pollock. Joshua was a Cavalry Scout in the United States Army. Joshua was a member of the Texas National Guard. He was a veteran of the Operation Iraqi Freedom campaign, serving from May 2007 to May 2008. He was currently on active duty with the United States Army, and was training soldiers at Camp Swift in Bastrop, Texas in preparation for their deployment to the Middle East. Joshua was slated to be deployed to Afghanistan in October 2009. During his tenure in the United States Army Joshua had achieved the rank of Sergeant and was operating in that capacity at the time of his death. Joshua was a 2006 graduate of Frisco High School in Frisco, Texas. He also attended Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas and Lincoln Technical Institute in Grand Prairie, Texas. Joshua was a member of the Trail to Heaven Cowboy Church in Celina, Texas where he was baptized in May of 2007 and accepted Jesus Christ into his life. He is survived by his parents, Brian and Ruby Lane of Frisco, Texas; brother, Jacob Lane of Frisco, Texas; step-brother, Joshua Lane of Spring Hill, Tennessee; grandparents, Donald and Virginia Pollock, Richard and Bonnie Snodgrass, Leon and Janice Lane, and Jack and Theresa Huddleston; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends, including Aunt JoAnn Pollock, Aunt Vickie Lyons, Uncle Gene Pollock, and special friends Jennifer Johnston, J.D. Randall, David Adams, and Juliano Villani. Visitation will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main St, Frisco, Texas on Friday March 27, 2009 from 6:30-8:30 PM. Funeral Services will be performed by Pastor Kevin Landis at First Baptist Church, 841 N. Preston Rd. Celina, Texas 75009 on Saturday March 28, 2009 at 11:30 AM, with interment to follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, Texas. The family will host a luncheon at the Fairy Tale Manor 10865 Preston Rd. Frisco, Texas from 2:30-4:00 PM All are welcome and encouraged to attend to celebrate Joshua’s life. Memorials

Josh was a good friend! He was my first best true friend. I meet Josh when I was in kindergarten When Josh moved to Texas I thought that I would never see him again, but I was so wrong . He promised me that we would stay in touch and we did. When he would come home for his visits, he would go to his grandparents ( The Pollocks ) I would go stay with him or he would come to my house and stay .I always looked forward to seeing him. Watching him develop from a care free teenager into a young man was a blessing to me. I was also overjoyed when Josh decided to join the US Army and be a protecter and guardian of our Freedom. Even before entering the military, God had a plan and purpose for the lives of these men. Though we can't understand why God's plan had to include these tragedies, we know He is sovereign. The actions of each of these men demonstrated a mental toughness, courage, and, ultimately, sacrifice. These are personality traits of men being made in the image of God. God is the source of all heroism, the bulwark of all courage, the foundation of all sacrifice. These men were each born with these characteristics and they carried them out to the end. Josh, Although we have only served together for a short time, you have disgtinguished yourself by your great desire to surpass the standard and excell at all that you learned, accomplished, and your continued love for being a soldier and NCO never accepting defeat, never quiting, and never once meeting a stranger, you treat all people with the same respect and thoughtfullness, caring, compassion that only some can claim to, never forgeting that all people are kindred and of god. I am sure along with your name being record in the book of life, your good deeds shall outweigh any bad that you have done.
