Seth Weaver Is an Award-Winning Trombonist, Vocalist, Composer
eth Weaver is an award-winning trombonist, vocalist, composer, arranger, and educator based in New York City. Originally from Franklin, TN, Seth was already playing and singing professionally in Nashville while still in high school. He completed a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the SUniversity of North Texas in 2013 and a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at the Manhattan School of Music in 2015. Described as a “youthful trombone firebrand pelting NYC with deliciously soulful hard bop” by Michael Dease, an internationally acclaimed jazz trombonist, Seth has quickly established himself as a new voice in the NYC jazz community. As a bandleader, Seth heads a seventeen-piece swing orchestra comprised of some of the most exciting new voices in the New York Jazz scene today. The band has performed in numerous venues around New York City, including The Iridium, Swing 46, Club Bonafide, the APAP Showcase, Shapeshifter Lab, American Beauty, St. Peter’s Church, Zinc Bar, Birdland, and many others. Described as “big band swing with a modern twist,” the group also has a monthly residency at The Speakeasy Sessions (The Gin Mill.) His debut album, Truth, will be released on March 27th through Outside in Music. Seth is a sought-after composer and arranger, and his music has been performed all over the world. His composition “Frost” was debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2018, and he composed the original score for the off- Broadway play, “For What It’s Worth.” Seth’s transcription and analysis of Michael Dease’s album Coming Home are available through Warwick Music Publications. -

Classes will receive the original Accentuate the Positive: Guide to Lyric Writing for Kids programming. Students will be exposed to different subject matters and will have opportunities to learn tools for lyric writing and creating personal lyrics, all while fulfilling national core standards. Have fun! Objectives Upon completion of this lesson students will be able to: Know about songwriter Johnny Mercer Understand the definitions of lyricist and composer Have an understanding of songwriting skills: Rhyme, Personification Write lyrics for a song Standards Nat’l Core Arts - Music: Creating. Jordana Lauren Metz And They Lived Happily Ever After: The Effects of Cultural Myths and Romantic Idealizations on Committed Relationships ABSTRACT This study explored the impact of idealized relationships, present in our media and culture, on committed relationships. The purpose of this study was to explore the ways that relationships are impacted by real and idealized relationship discrepancies. In addition, this research provided an initial assessment of the coping mechanisms utilized by partners as problem solving responses to the discrepancies. Twelve participants, self-identified as in a committed relationship with a partner and living together for over one year, participated in this study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with questions focusing on how the participants’ relationships fit and do not fit into idealized notions of relationships, how their partnership is affected by this relationship discrepancy and the ways that they cope and respond to these effects. Findings indicated that many participants experienced feelings of discomfort, questioning and doubt in their relationship due to the prevalence of idealized relationships.
