MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANIZING TEAM Dear Friends, It is our pleasure to invite you to 'Innovation, Startups and Social Impact: Strengthening the Ecosystem', a joint initiative by i-TIC Foundation of IIT Hyderabad and Action For India (AFI). This is an engaging dialogue among distinguished private, public, and social sector leaders to identify opportunities and address the challenges often faced by innovators seeking to scale up their social enterprises. This initiative focuses on bringing together inputs for designing a leading social entrepreneurship accelerator at IIT Hyderabad. We, at IIT Hyderabad and AFI, collectively believe that it is an exciting time for the social entrepreneurship ecosystem with so many innovators setting the stage for a growing worldwide movement. The social entrepreneurs are the game changers who are setting the rules of today’s world riddled with its complexity and nuances. These bold efforts warrant the creation of an enabling environment for the social entrepreneurs to thrive and reach new heights. It is a privilege to note that India is increasingly becoming a fertile ground for this new stage of the intermingling of technology and social causes. The available resources and success of social enterprises have attracted attention from across the world. However, there are certain challenges faced by social enterprises on their way to success which must be addressed at an early stage to allow functional growth and development. With this proposed accelerator, we will collectively try to support social enterprises on their technology based innovations in the healthcare, agriculture, and education sectors. Through this initiative, IIT Hyderabad and AFI, intend to identify high-potential social enterprises and provide a supportive system to help them in their scaling journeys. In this partnership, IIT Hyderabad’s in-depth expertise in technology and innovation will complement AFI’s rich experience in working with the leading social entrepreneurs of the country for nearly a decade. By playing a more direct role in these scaling journeys, we hope to realize our eventual goal of creating impact unicorns over the next few years, who can in turn have an uplifting effect on the lives of people at the Bottom of the Pyramid. We would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to our partners – T-Hub, RICH, and SVP and our sponsor, CtrlS Datacenter, without whom this initiative would have not been possible. We sincerely hope that you are able to explore the full potential of the event and the upcoming accelerator program as an opportunity to network, collaborate and build lasting partnerships with technocrats, corporates, investors, and government representatives.
