VI Periodical Articles about Ralph Nader P 19-27 INTRODUCTION

Some very valid reasons suggest themselves for the 2ompLlation of this bibliography. The subject itself is compellingly relevant to our times. Few men have shocked the conscience of a nation as Falpn Nader has done. From his early activism at Harvard, his lone and bi.;dgeoning assault on General .Rotors, Nader went on to organize his 'Raiders' and his various Study G-oups such as the Center for Study of Pespnr'sje Law, the Public Interest Research Group (PIRG), etc. His relentless probings have now run the gamut of almost every important issue covering consumer protection, industrial ecology, and the very seat of political power, the Congress of the United States of America.

Strangely enough, no comprehensive bibliography seems to exist on the literature generated by Nader and his movement. This bibliography attempt: to fill the gap. Further, Nader very often and designedly pitched nis writings to the common man. We have, therefore, much of his work in ephemeral journals and little magazines. All the more reason for a listing and collation of this kind of material. The literature about Nader and his Study Groups have also been included in this bibliography for the reason that it provides some perspective and evaluation of Nader and the issues

he raised. Robert F. Buckhorn in his book, Nader: The People's Lawyer has included a very useful listing of Nader's submissions to Congress from Feb. 10, 1966 to Nov. 9, 1971. Since Nader's testimony before Congres', extensively reveals the core of his philosophy, this compiler has updated the listing to include entries for 1972.

The bibliography covers the period from about 1960-1.97P, and is divided into the following sections:

I: Monographs by Ralph Nader and his Study Groups.

II: Periodical Articles by Ralph Nader.

III: Testimony Before the Congress of tai, United States Between Feb. 10, 1966 - Oct. 11, 1972 by Ralph Nader and his Study Groups. IV: Select Reviews or Some Monographs By and About Nader and his Study Groups.

V: Monographs About ?alpn Nader.

VI: Periodical Articles About Ralph Nader.

Arrangement of entries is alphabetical by author and title within each section. Bibliographic style generally follows Wiles' Scholarly Reporting in the Humanities (1961).
