In 2000, as an extension of the Salon de Montrouge founded in 1955, the city of Montrouge furthered its commit- ment to “discovering and supporting emerging artists” by setting up a European network in order to encourage partner cities to support their countries’ young artists.

This network of partners cities pledges to host a stop of JCE | Jeune Création Européenne Biennial 2013 / 2015 and to supply artists with residency studios for the duration of the Biennial.

Each partner country provides the JCE with its expertise in the field of emerging art by naming an artistic curator in charge of singling out new talents.

In , based on the tremendous prospection process carried out by the Salon de Montrouge, the French art- ists selected for the JCE | Jeune Création Européenne Biennial will be: Maxime Chanson, Éponine Momenceau et Henrik Potter (winners of the Salon de Montrouge 2012) and NØNE FUTBOL CLUB, Justine Pluvinage and Pierre Seinturier (winners of the Salon de Montrouge 2013). They will represent France among the 54 young talents hail- ing from 9 European countries.

The city of Montrouge will be hosting the first stop of the JCE 2013 / 2015 Biennial, with Yann Toma as the artist guest of honor. For the opening of the JCE Biennial on October 16th 2013 in Montrouge, he will create a special light- ing of Le Beffroi which will be visible from .

On the day of the vernissage, an international jury will convene to give out the JCE awards to the 3 artists it will have singled out. The jury will be presided over by Marc Partouche, the director of the prestigious Académie royale des beaux-arts in , where the winners of the JCE will exhibit in April 2014. On this occasion, Marc Partouche will select 6 young Belgian artists, and will become a guest country of the JCE.
