That’s because 75 percent of the property – equivalent to roughly 25 acres – is flush with approximately 12 unique varieties and more than 4,000 plantings of the showy flowers. Even more impressive is the myriad of multi-tonal hues they come in, from vivid purples and pinks to light blues and even whites – a result of the Inn’s unique patchwork of different soil types, which is what is responsible for determining the bloom’s specific colors. HYDRANGEA-TENDING TIPS TO TAKE HOME from the Inn’s fine gardener, Pamela Vasques • Always water at the base • Add mulch underneath • When pruning, never cut of the plant. HUNTING IN STYLE The Inn was first built in 1914 by founder Charles Hardy not as a resort, but as a hunting lodge, inviting his guests to this seaside paradise by building a refuge with unparalleled elegance and charm. Today, as an ode to the Inn’s history, guests can book the Hunting Lodge Cottage. Although the name might conjure images of dark wood finishes and mounted game, guests of the cottage enjoy a classic Cape Cod shingle-style cottage decorated in coastal decor with large french doors that open to an oversized patio with a first-class ocean view. SOUNDS OF A DIFFERENT TIME The South Lounge – located within the Main Inn – comes complete with a roaring fire and an ocean view. The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) – the nation’s premier summer collegiate baseball league – has retained the services of the premier integrated marketing communications firm in the region to assist the CCBL in elevating the league’s baseball brand. “This is a match made on a field of dreams. We’ve long been recognized as the league where fans can see the stars of tomorrow play today,” said CCBL President Chuck Sturtevant. “Bringing a power‐house like Pierce‐Cote/Regan Communications on board will help us extend the reach of our unique brand of baseball and all that it offers players and fans alike.” With one out of every six current Major League Baseball players among CCBL alumni, the league is as strong as it has ever been. However, with the emergence of other summer leagues, the advent of social media, and a rapidly changing media landscape, CCBL does not intend to rest on its laurels. “Since our founding in 1885, the Cape League has relied on the commitment of a mostly volunteer staff to handle all of the administrative and communications work. We remain confident in the product we offer, but in this day and age we have to work harder than ever to keep the Cape League at the forefront of amateur baseball for generations to come,” Sturtevant said.

While the panel supports putting more teeth into the rule, members had questions about a recommendation that would have ejected any team personnel, other than coaches, who left their field positions, the dugouts or the bullpens at the time of an altercation. Those players or team personnel would be suspended from the team’s next game.
