Agenda for Synod Agenda for Synod 2021 2021 Synod 2021 will not meet as planned, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Program Committee of synod (officers of Synod 2019) has designated (in shaded sections within) all matters in this agenda that cannot await action by Synod 2022. A special meeting of the Council of Delegates of the Christian Reformed Church in North America will take place June 11-12 and 15-16, 2021, to decide on these matters (indicated by shading). As we all continue to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, and people around the world experience heightened levels of distress, compounded by stressors related to food, livelihood, shelter, safety, and basic survival, it is clear that we are ill-equipped to deal with this mental health crisis.     DAY OF PRAYER FOR MISSIONARIES OF OPCRC: THURSDAY, APRIL 29 Jerry & Gloria An Jerry serves as the Chinese Ministry Leader of ReFrame Ministries (formerly China Back to God Ministries International). The ministry has a well-established team in China, a presence in Hong Kong, and a small team in Grand Rap- Reframe Ministries ids. They are leaning further into their posture as pioneer, think tank, and [email protected] partner in Christian new media ministry. Prayer Requests • Pray for the growth and development of our Chinese publishing minis- try. Three books came out within the first quarter of 2021, and numer- ous other projects are in the pipeline. Pray for wisdom to discern which projects to engage; pray for the right people to staff this ministry and to partner with; and pray for effective reach and impact as these resourc- es get into people’s hands. • Pray for me and our staff as we, like so many, continue to feel the weight of a global pandemic, racial tensions, and political uncertainties. Pray for renewed strength to continue to be faithful to this calling. • Pray for our expanded fundraising efforts, specifically into the Chinese speaking communities across North America. Pray for Divine provision for every project, wisdom to discern our steps, and key partnerships with those who share a passion for this work. • Thank you for your continued prayers for myself and my wife, Gloria, as she battles depression. • We have been one of the few Chinese ministries to intentionally speak into areas of conflict, because of our belief that it is possible to be Christian even while having difficult conversations.

    MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF DELEGATES 2021 Tuesday, June 15, 2021 COD-SM 01 The Special Meeting of the Council of Delegates of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (COD), convening on behalf of Synod 2021, which was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, begins at 11:00 a.m. (EDT). Rev. Paul R. De Vries, COD chair, welcomes Council of Delegates members, staff, advisers, and persons watching via livestream. Rev. Mark Vande Zande, COD member from Classis Heartland and pastor of the scheduled convening church of Synod 2021 (First CRC, Orange City, Iowa), reflects on the faithfulness of God throughout his marriage and his ministry. Isaiah 25:1 says, “O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.” Throughout Scripture, we find that God keeps his promises (Deut. 7:9; Ps. 145:8-13; Gen. 3:14-15; 8:20-22; 9:12-16), he never leaves us or forsakes us (Ps. 121; 139:1-7; Matt. 28:18-20; John 14:15-19; Heb. 13:5-6), and God is faithful to the very end (Ps. 117). We can respond to that faithfulness of God by trusting in him, holding fast to him, and being faithful to him to the very end. Rev.
