2. Part 5 of Schedule 2 of the regulations is amended by the deletion of the word “100” wherever it appears and the substitution of the word “500”.

3. These regulations come into force on November 16, 2013.

EXPLANATORY NOTES

SECTION 1 updates the ticket penalties under the Animal Health and Protection Act to reflect Act amendments and an increase in the fine amounts for offences under the Act and regulations from $100 to $500. It revokes ticket penalties for offences under the Animal Health Regulations (EC193/91), which have been revoked. It adds ticket penalties for offences under the new Premises Identification Regulations and updates ticket penalties for offences under the Bee Health Regulations to reflect amendments to the regulations and the increased fine amounts provided for in the Act.

SECTION 2 updates ticket penalties for offences under the Swine Importation Regulations (EC523/98) to reflect the increased fine amounts provided for in the Act.

SECTION 3 provides for the commencement of these regulations.
