CEA Newsletter Page 3 Popcorn and a Pony: movie review Casey’s Shadows(1978) PG In this family friendly movie, we have a down on his luck Cajun cowboy, who has a thirst for liquor and training Quarter Horses. With the help of his three sons, they work together in making a champion out of a colt, one of them ac- quires, reaching heights that were unimaginable before. The father’s youngest son, Casey, builds a bond with this young colt, and why the horse eventually is named Casey’s Shadow. The colt soon shows his potential by winning several local races, and catching the attention of deep pocketed, empty hearted com- petitors. This is a warm hearted movie, as we watch the functions and dysfunc- tions of a family, trying to make a dream come true. As mentioned above, this is a family movie, but with Walter Matthau as a cantankerous father, there are a few words the little buckaroos out there may not know what to do with. ~This movie always held a special place in my heart, it was filmed in my hometown., and frequented the rac- ing grounds. horse.
