OFBH property acquisition held up due to contamination caused by a former tenant on the land that dismantled engines for over a decade on the site and dumped all fluids on the ground. Popple’s are currently in a legal battle with him. Planting a rain garden at Sweeney’s Beach today with PSU Extension Master Gardeners. Money came from a fine paid when a fuel oil tank leaked in the river.  Sullivan Co.: Expressed gratitude for EPCAMR staff helping with their Environmental Day. Excited about the Lewis AMD Rehabilitation soon to go to construction. With most of their mining done and gone, people are forgetting that mining actually happened. The Historical Society is partnering with the Conservation District to promote Geo Trails, a program to promote tourism of historic and mining landmarks. Following what was learned from Limestone Sand Dosing at WALA Lake, they are starting the dose on streams impacted by acid deposition. “Young of the Year” trout are now documented in project streams by Susquehanna University. Corey Richmond was nominated for a PEC Environmental Partnership Award! Congrats!  Restoration Alliance: Watershed - Recent updates to Site 42, and plans with S&L to construct 2 new treatment systems (hopefully by end of 2015) at Pond and Carbon Run Headwaters Area in cooperation with AOAA. Site 48 has been scouring out ditches, looking at piping it directly to treatment system. SCRA was promised grant money from Transco / Williams Pipeline for Site 15. Local concerns that the pipeline will be going through the Maysville Slope area, near Walmart and under Quaker Run. Quaker Run now going directly into the mines due to a realignment of the road near the industrial park.
